Daria Kasatkina Rome

We are closing in on championship weekend in Granby, Canada as WTA players are working on their final tune-ups before the final Slam of the year. Daria Saville is already into the final after her opponent, Marta Kostyuk, withdrew from their semifinal match with an injury. The one semifinal match of the day takes place between #1 seed Daria Kasatkina and young Frenchwoman Diane Parry. We at LWOT have the preview for that match, but who will advance?

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Daria Kasatkina will square off against Diane Parry for the first time with an appearance in the Granby final on the line. Kasatkina is looking to reach her second final of the season. Parry, her first. The 25-year-old Russian is a threat on any hard court she steps on. She holds a 19-9 record on the surface this season, including a title in San Jose earlier this month. Her opponent, the 19-year-old from France, is looking to reach her first tour-level hard court final of her young career.

Parry dug deep in her 6-4 6-7 7-6 quarterfinal win over Tatjana Maria. She is swinging freely and playing with a lot of confidence. With that said, Kasatkina has won her last six sets of tennis in dominating fashion. I believe she has the experience and will to raise this title in Granby. That starts with defeating the young Frenchwoman in this semifinal bout.
Prediction: Kasatkina in 2
