Obviously, Grand Slam tennis is over this year with the conclusion of the Roland Garros which was won by Rafael Nadal. Although, there is still a lot of tennis to be played. Many players are still competing in tournaments. That is the case for the St. Petersburg Open, which has great players competing in it. Here are the best matches for this Tuesday.
Vasek Pospisil vs Andrey Rublev
These two are tied in their head to head with a win a piece. The young Russian is playing amazing tennis and will be inspired as he is playing in home soil. The Canadian isn’t playing that bad having a good US Open run. However, Rublev is the clear favorite and we will see how he looks after suffering a devastating loss to Tsitsipas and the French Open. Expect a good match though as Rublev will look to dictate with his style of play.
Feliciano López vs Borna Ćorić
The Spaniard leads their head to head with two wins and no defeats. First time they met was four years ago but Ćorić retired. Then, they met two years later in Beijing in an evenly and hard fought match that went to three sets. The young Croatian will look to defeat the savvy Spaniard for the first time in his career. It will be a great match as both have different styles of play. Expect an even contest filled with amazing rallies and incredible highlight reels.
Karen Kachanov vs James Duckworth
This will be their first encounter among both players. The Russian is coming from a defeat from Novak Djokovic at the French Open. He is a great player and still has a lot to demonstrate. He will take advantage of playing at a home event. On the other hand, the Australian hasn’t been playing that very well. This is a great opportunity for him to bounce back and have a deep run. All in all, this will be an interesting match, but Karen is the clear favorite in this clash.
J.J. Wolf vs Milos Raonic
The young American has shown that he can play high quality tennis and will try to create a big upset against Raonic. This will be the first time that they will meet. Milos had a great run in Cincinnati reaching the final but ultimately losing it to Djokovic. He’s been quiet ever since, but will look to bounce back against the young American. Expect big and heavy hitting from the Canadian. He has a big serve which Wolf has to be careful of. It will be a great match so expect some great tennis between both players.
Great Matches
To conclude, the St. Petersburg Open offers some great matches and great quality players. Yes the Grand Slams are over, but tennis still goes on. It is great that this tournament can be held, so expect some great tennis this Tuesday. Every match promises to be fantastic so don’t miss any action of every match.
