However, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mihailovic&#8217;s late goal was all the home club could muster as some big tactical decisions from head coach Nick Cushing &#8211; such as the addition of Keaton Parks and Justin Haak following injuries &#8211; stumped Montr\u00e9al after a historic season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sean Johnson certainly played a big role in stopping Montr\u00e9al as mentioned but on a day where the team really possessed the ball well and dictated the flow of the game, you would have expected more both in front of goal and on the defensive end.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Injuries Can\u2019t Stop this NYCFC Attack from Rolling<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heading into the 2022 playoffs, it looked as though NYCFC would be without <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/soccer\/2022\/10\/10\/nycfc-leave-banged-up-atlanta\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">a few key players who picked up injuries in the final match of the MLS Season<\/a>. However, without Tayvon Gray, Alfredo Morales, and Talles Magno all out for the first round of playoffs, NYCFC was able to keep the attack rolling dropping three goals on the Herons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Against a higher seeded Montr\u00e9al, NYCFC was once again able to keep the attack rolling notching three goals behind the return of the Brazillian forward Magno who was able to sub on in the 58-minute and contributed a penalty just minutes later.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">TALLES ICE COLD \u2744\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/BBoX4X93z2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/BBoX4X93z2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; New York City FC (@newyorkcityfc) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/newyorkcityfc\/status\/1584253643267923968?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">October 23, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nycfc.com\/news\/injury-report-one-absence-one-questionable-for-montreal-trip\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gray continues to be questionable on the injury report while Morales was listed as out prior to the game<\/a> but no doubt having a key attacker back in Magno makes a huge difference for Cushing\u2019s lineup heading into the Conference Finals as this attack looks to stay hot in front of goal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Last Word: NYCFC Advance to Eastern Conference Finals vs Philadelphia<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A well-fought but ultimately unproductive matchup from Montr\u00e9al will see NYCFC move on into the Eastern Conference Finals for a battle with the top seed on the East Coast in the Philadelphia Union. The Union advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals as they won 1-0 over FC Cincinnati.
