The latest cut is Wilmer Cabrera of the Houston Dynamo. Late Tuesday night, the club announced the firing of the 51-year-old coach.

Cabrera was in his third season with the club. He was originally hired by the Dynamo on Oct. 28, 2016. Also, Cabrera coached last year’s team that won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

However, after 10 losses in the last 12 matches, the Dynamo (9-13-3) decided to go down a new route. Their most recent loss was against the Eastern Conference first-place Philadelphia Union on Sunday. Houston is currently riding a four-game losing streak.

Also, right now, the club currently sits in ninth place in the Western Conference. While they’re technically not out of playoff contention, it’ll take a long climb up the mountain for Houston to qualify. Right now, there are six points separating seventh-place FC Dallas and Houston.

In a press release, Matt Jordan, the Dynamo’s senior vice president and general manager, thanked Cabrera and wished him well.

“We’d like to thank Wilmer for all of his hard work and dedication over the course of the last two and a half seasons with the Houston Dynamo, including last year’s U.S. Open Cup title,” Jordan said. “We wish him all the best moving forward. At this time, we as a club believe the team will benefit from a fresh perspective as we enter the final third of our season and make a push to qualify for the playoffs.”

*Gets us*

Yea, we think @Chris_Ramirez17 will fit right in 🤘 #ForeverOrange pic.twitter.com/t0jwRwqNj4

— Houston Dynamo FC (@HoustonDynamo) August 12, 2019

Who’s up next?

Meanwhile, Davy Arnaud will become the team’s interim head coach. He joined Ben Olsen’s staff for one season back in 2016. A former midfielder, he spent a majority of his career with Sporting Kansas City.
