Edmonton, Canada (April 17, 2019) \u2014\u00a0<\/strong>FC Edmonton returns to the city after a one-week stint in the Dominican Republic along with the rest of the Canadian Premier League teams.<\/p>\n

Amer Didic<\/strong><\/h3>\n

After teasing a new player singing on Twitter<\/a>\u00a0Monday morning, FC Edmonton has officially announced the addition of another player to the squad. Amer Didic, a centreback, joins the Eddies from San Antonio FC of the USL after the team and Didic agreed to part ways yesterday<\/a>. The signing is pending league approval and International Transfer Clearance.<\/p>\n

Didic is a former FC Edmonton Academy member, who joined as a teen after moving from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Didic has also played in MLS with Sporting KC and Swope Park Rangers in the USL.<\/p>\n

As previously reported on Last Word on Soccer<\/a>, Head Coach Jeff Paulus had plans to make two more signings before the season kicks off on May 4\u00a0in Winnipeg. This will leave one additional signing remaining. As Paulus had indicated, he is looking for a left-footed player to round out his team.<\/p>\n

Dominican Republic Preseason<\/strong><\/h3>\n

FC Edmonton wrapped up their one-week Dominican preseason training on Monday. Over the course of the week, the Eddies had two friendlies.<\/p>\n

The first match the Eddies played was against Inter RD, a local team, on April 11.\u00a0 FC Edmonton won that game 2-0. Contributing to the score were Philippe Lincourt-Joseph who put in a cross from teammate Randy Edwini-Bonsu in the first half<\/a>. In the second half, Oumar Diouck scored on a penalty kick<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The second match of the week was against HFX Wanderers on April 14.\u00a0Akim Garcia<\/a> helped Halifax win that match after scoring in the second half<\/a>. Part of the squad also had the opportunity for an unofficial 60-minute scrimmage against Forge FC<\/a> on April 13.<\/p>\n
