SEATTLE, WASHINGTON (March 31, 2018)<\/strong> — Despite the return of Nicol\u00e1s Lodeiro and Will Bruin to the starting lineup, the Seattle Sounders<\/a> fell to the Montreal Impact<\/a> Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Absent from the loss was Clint Dempsey, who was serving a one-game suspension. However, despite the loss of Dempsey, Lodeiro returned after missing the last two matches with a right midfoot sprain.<\/p>\n

Bruin returned after suffering a concussion two weeks ago against C.D. Guadalajara.<\/p>\n

Early Kelvin Leerdam Ejection Leads to Seattle Sounders Downfall Against Montreal Impact<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The downfall for Seattle began after Kelvin Leerdam was shown a straight red card for putting his hands in referee Daniel Lovitz’ face.<\/p>\n

This is the second MLS match where Seattle was forced to play with 10 men.<\/p>\n

Leerdam was shown the red card in the 40th minute.<\/p>\n

After, the game “really changed,” according to Lodeiro.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat gave them the upper hand the rest of the game,” Lodeiro said. “We know what we need to do. We need to train harder, we need to practice better. We\u2019ve been in situations like this before, and we know what we need to actually do to get out of this. We\u2019re going to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

“There are still a lot of games ahead of us that we can correct and fix these mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Montreal took advantage of Seattle’s loss of Leerdam. In the 60th minute, Jeisson Vargas scored off an assist from Ignacio Piatti.<\/p>\n

Montreal finished the match with a 1-0 victory. Seattle has not won a match in MLS play this season.<\/p>\n
