PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA (January 21, 2018)<\/strong> – The LA Galaxy finish out the 2018 MLS SuperDraft with two selections. Stanford University midfielder Drew Skundrich<\/a> was taken in the second round (40th overall) and University of Akron defender Nate Schultz<\/a> also in the second round (48th overall). <\/p>\n

Skundrich played four years at Standard alongside fellow LA Galaxy draft pick Tomas Hilliard-Arce. He was a part of an NCAA College Cup three-peet from 2015-2017. He was named First Team All-Pac-12 his senior season (2017). Skundrich finished his college career making 82 appearances, recording nine goals and 13 assists. <\/p>\n

Schultz played four years at Akron. With the Zips, he made 60 starts throughout his career. As a senior, he was named to the USC Second Team All-Great Lakes Region and Second Team All-Mid American Conference.<\/p>\n

Second round picks and later in the SuperDraft are usually projects and do not often contribute to their MLS team as a rookie. Look for these two players to try and challenge to make the roster in 2018. They could be a part of LA Galaxy II in the 2018 USL season. <\/p>\n

This is especially true for Skundrich. The Galaxy have plenty of depth in the midfield now and it will be difficult for the 22-year-old to fit in there, regardless of what role Head Coach Sigi Schmid sees him in. Schultz could also have a tough time, but he’ll be around several good players can help him adjust to the professional game. <\/p>\n

I think both players should expect to spend the year with Los Dos<\/em> should they make the team. <\/p>\n
