CARSON, CALIFORNIA (January 11, 2018)<\/strong> – The LA Galaxy<\/a> and Servando Carrasc<\/a>o have reached an agreement for the 2018 Major League Soccer season, the club announced today<\/a>. The club selected Carrasco in the MLS Re-Entry Draft last month and are just now signing him. <\/p>\n

LA Galaxy and Servando Carrasco Come to Terms<\/h1>\n

The Galaxy obtained Carrasco’s rights in Stage 2 of the 2017 MLS Re-Entry Draft. The 29-year-old has spent his entire professional career in MLS after playing college soccer at the University of California Berkeley. He turned professional with Seattle Sounders FC, under then Head Coach Sigi Schmid, who now heads the LA Galaxy. <\/p>\n

He made stops at Houston Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City before joining Orlando City SC for the last three seasons. He has only really been a starter one year in his career (2016 when he made 21 starts for Orlando). The San Diego, CA native made 58 appearances with Orlando from 2015-2017. In total he has made 126 appearances and 77 starts in eight seasons in Major League Soccer. <\/p>\n

He will add good bench depth to the midfielder position. As a former Sigi Schmid guy, perhaps reuniting with his old coach will make him move valuable to the Galaxy. At worst, he’ll be another veteran option off the bench along with Baggio Husidic. Carrasco made $155,000 in 2017<\/a>. He’s still in his prime age-wise, so as long as his cap his is at or near that number, this is a good move for all parties. <\/p>\n
