What Josue Colman Adds to Orlando City SC

Orlando City SC found their replacement for Brazilian legend Kaka, signing Paraguayan attacking midfielder Josue Colman to a four-year contract.

The great Kaka has retired from Orlando City SC and professional soccer. Now it is time to find a Kaka replacement. The club that shares its city with the Magic Kingdom is looking for their own magic. Their hope is to be blessed again by another great talent to head up their attack. And they are looking to fill that South American hole Kaka left. They did so by replacing the legendary Brazilian with Josue Colman.

The move was reported on Sunday, December 24 by Paraguayan newspaper ABC Calor. In their report, Orlando City SC spent a $2.8 million transfer fee and received 80 percent ownership of the 19-year old, attacker Josue Colman in a four-year contract.

What Josue Colman Adds to Orlando City SC

It means that Orlando City SC will pay the price to win. Midseason and recent off-season moves show the club is trying to solidify their presence as a perennial contender. As for the Ascuncion native, he has the ability to set the league on fire and make a name for himself next season. Colman comes from the Paraguayan powerhouse, Cerro Porteño. Last season, Colman, was able to help the club win a title in the 2017 Clausura. This is the same club that developed Atlanta United’s break out star, Miguel Almiron. It is easy to compare the two since they have an uncanny ability to move into space and have an eagle-like vision of the field.

But will he hit the ground running in the MLS like his fellow countryman? The right pieces and parts are in Orlando to see Colman succeed. Look for this young man to play on the right side of Jason Kreis’ favored diamond formation. What he lacks in the experience of Kaka he more than makes up for with sheer creativity. He should be up to the challenge in creating some dynamic soccer with his new teammates for years to come.
