Preview: Club America vs Atlanta United

Miguel Herrera’s side comes into this match in not so hot form. A lot of questions surround this team after making it into this round via penalties and coming off pretty pour form as well. In their last three games the team has drawn two and lost one. In their past two games they’ve conceded six goals. Even with all these negatives surrounding the club, America still walk into this game as favorites. But only by a small margin considering who they’re going up against. The team need to rebound after the poor results they’ve had and this game is exactly what this side will look for to spring them back into action. Expect Herrera to field his best possible starting eleven from Guillermo Ochoa in net, to Henry Martin and Federico Vinas up top. Having home field advantage for this first leg is crucial. The team will come out with every intention to close the game out at home.

On the other hand Atlanta will have quite a difficult challenge in front of them. They travel to Mexico City with a tough ask, to walk away with a result they can manage at home with. Add on top of that the absence of Josef Martinez and the MLS side have a mountain to climb in this first leg. One thing that this team does have is momentum at the moment. Atlanta come into this match on a three game winning streak. While the MLS season just started for them two wins to start of the season and winning there last CCL match shows the capability of this team. The team has plenty to arsenal upfront in Ezequiel Barco and Pity Martinez. Two players that will be tasked the responsibility in breaking the Club America defense.
