Mexico City, Mexico – Club America look to advance into the next round of the CONCACAF Champions league this Wednesday. The Mexican side will host Guatemalan side Comunicaciones FC in the second leg of the round of 16. The Coapa side will be looking to put all doubts to rest after drawing 1-1 away at Guatemala. A match that saw much controversy due to the officiating on display that night. Let’s take a look at this second leg of the CCL Round of 16.

Head coach for Miguel Herrera had harsh words against the officials who only gave out just two yellow cards that night. A team that committed a total of 22 fouls that night and arguably could have seen a red card. Now the team from Guatemala have a tough game ahead away from home. They will visit the Estadio Azteca in search of a miraculous result.
After the disappointing result away in the first leg Club America will try to make quick of this match at home. Seeing as how the giants of Concacaf hold the title of favorites for this game it won’t be a surprised to see a high attacking match. Even with the stumble they had away at Guatemala, America come into this game on an unbeaten run.
After their recent result away from home beating Monterrey 1-0 the team now has gone five games unbeaten. And they continue to solidify themselves at the back only conceding two goals in this matches all together. The team now sits first place of the Liga MX Clausura 2020.
Miguel Herrera will probably field his best possible Starting XI knowing he doesn’t have to travel away for his next game after. One thing for certain is Oscar Jimenez will continue goal for this match. As far as changes from the previous eleven that faced Comunicaciones don’t expect much. Tactically the team will need to be aggressive and aware of the team at hand.
A physical team that will try to foul just as much and hard as the first leg. But the Mexican side has the big advantage of being at home where the altitude, smog, and everything that makes playing in Mexico City that much more difficult in their favor.
On the other hand Comunicaciones have quite the hill to climb coming into this one. While they made their journey quite considerably easier by holding Club America to a draw, they know it won’t be easy being the away team. The team will feel a bit let down that they couldn’t hold Club America off to win the first leg.
But they do come into this game just as good on form as America. Seeing as how they won their away match this past weekend the team continues to sit in first place. Momentum is exactly what this Guatemalan side will try to go off on for Wednesday game.
In regards to tactics head coach Mauricio Tapia will have quite the decision to make ahead of this one. The draw doesn’t secure them passage into the next round so they will need to find some sort of attack. More probable than not will see a Comunicaciones side that will sit back and try to get America on the counter when possible. They’ll most likely try to disrupt the run of play for America by fouling them as much as possible seeing as how that worked for them last game.

Both teams will go at each other in search of their ticket into the next round of the CONCACAF Champions league. And while on paper Club America are favorites to go through, you can never count this Guatemalan side out just yet.
