Editorial (August 23, 2018) – Real Madrid still suffers from the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer whether they want to admit it or not.

Ranking Top Five Real Madrid Difference-Making Players For This Season

There’s no doubt why they miss Ronaldo, he is the club’s all-time goalscoring leader but left the team for a new challenge and now the reign UEFA Champions League winners have to move forward despite their best player in the past decade move to Italy.

Even so, the team is not guideless; they have some good players who can become the leader for the upcoming years.

It is not enough just to show up and scoring, this is Real Madrid, and this organization always demands more.

5. Isco Alarcón

Isco had a big role over the last few years as he started in the last two Champions League finals, both won by Real Madrid.

The Spaniard earned the trust of the former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and the midfielder has performed well since then.

However, Madrid will want a more dominant Isco this season. They need him and it seems to be the perfect opportunity for the 26-year-old to finally take the main man spot.

Does he ready to be the alpha dog? It looks like he’s not even sure yet, but he has all the skills to prove it.

Isco scored nine goals and assisted ten times last season.

4. Marcos Asensio

What a great talent Madrid have. Asensio is the present and the future of Real Madrid as well as Spain National Team, and it is easy to know why.

The 22-year-old shoots from outside the box as well as any player at his age, he is a good passer as he is shooting and his quickness makes him more valuable.

Asensio only needs more minutes to show up and he had it last season. He did not disappoint at all as long as he was on the pitch with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Asensio netted 11 times last season, including two superb goals against Barcelona in the Supercopa.

3. Luka Modric

World Cup runner-up and four-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid, all eyes are on him to see if he can lead the team to another dream season.

Modric has nothing to prove, he has won everything, and his skills defined him just perfectly.

The Croatian is the main man in the midfield as he creates chances for others, makes long-range passes, defends, tackle, score… He basically makes everything happen on the pitch.

Though, Real Madrid fanbase wants him to guide the team as he did with his country in the recently ended World Cup, where he was awarded as the tournament’s best player after losing the final to France.

Modric scored only two goals last season and assisted eighth times, but the harsh work he does in the midfield is what counts for the team.

2. Gareth Bale

Madrid’s unexpected hero in the last Champions League final gives the feeling of being prepared to carry out the team the whole season. Bale has shown what he’s capable to do when injury free whereas all doubts still surround him.

Last May he came off the bench to led Madrid to win Europe’s top club tournament for the third straight season scoring twice, including a superb overhead goal that will remain as one the best goals ever in a CL final.

Bale reached the net 21 times last season.

1. Sergio Ramos

The chief, Ramos represents what Real Madrid is about. The Spaniard has been the captain since 2015 and this season the club needs his leadership more than ever.

Ramos is an aggressive player, his style of play fits perfectly with the definition of roughness. He commands the team from the defensive line and battles every ball. His influence in the game makes Ramos an untouchable player in the club.
