Minnesota United-FC Dallas Preview

Minnesota United goes on the road to take on FC Dallas this weekend looking to erase a three-game winless skid. Here's what to expect.
Minnesota United-FC Dallas

Minnesota United FC finally picked up a point on the road with a 2-2 comeback draw against the LA Galaxy. The point did not come cheap with Fransisco Calvo getting a senseless red card and Collen Warner picking up a yellow. Both will be suspended for the match against FC Dallas this Saturday. These suspensions may cause Adrian Heath to make some big decisions about his line up

Preview: Minnesota United-FC Dallas

When: Saturday, August 18th, 7:00 pm CT

Where: Toyota Stadium, Frisco, Texas

Things to Watch for:

Will Adrian Heath change up the formation or the personnel?

Collen Warner and Fransico Calvo have both been regular starters since the team’s transition to the 3-5-2 formation. Heath can make straight swaps with Collin Martin coming in for Warner and Wyatt Omsberg coming in for Calvo. This is a likely scenario but they both do not have a lot of starting experience in the 3-5-2.

Another possible scenario is switching to their old 4-2-3-1 formation. Eric Miller would fill in at one fullback and Tyrone Mears at the other. This would also let Romario Ibarra start in a more attacking position with less defensive responsibility. This formation would be a risk with the team having not played in this formation recently.

The safe bet is Heath sticking with the 3-5-2 but I would not rule out switching to the 4-2-3-1.

Will Abu Danladi continue his hot streak?

With an assist and a goal in his last 3 substitute appearances, Danladi is close to recapturing his great form of last season. With the trade of Christian Ramirez, Danladi has more pressure to perform. He has been doing pretty well so far, let’s see if he can continue this form. He has a chance to start on Saturday with Darwin Quintero questionable with a leg injury. This would be a huge opportunity for Danladi to prove that he has overcome his injury woes and is back to his form of last season.
