Preview (August 3, 2018) – Last game for Minnesota United FC had many fans’ fears come true as the Loons were unable to win on the road once again. The good news for fans is that the Loons next matchup is in the friendly confines of TCF Bank Stadium. The matchup is against the 2017 MLS Cup finalist Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders had a rough start to the season but like the Loons are starting to make a playoff push.

Minnesota United FC vs. Seattle Sounders FC Preview

When: Saturday, August 4, 7 pm CT

Where: TCF Bank Stadium, Minneapolis

What to Watch for:

Will new signing Romario Ibarra be given the start?

This was one of the things to watch for the last preview but it still stands. Minnesota spent Target Allocation Money (TAM) on him to be a starter, so it should come sooner rather than later. In the previous preview, it was discussed that he should be switched with Alexi Gomez at right wing-back. Gomez was replaced last game, however, instead of Ibarra it was Eric Miller that was given the start. With the Loons playing at home it might be a good game to give Romario Ibarra a start at right wing-back.

Can the Loons rebound from the loss at Vancouver?

The Loons were building momentum from their three-point week at home but stumbled when they traveled to Vancouver and faltered in a 4-2 loss. If the Loons continue to struggle on the road, they will need to pick up as many points at home as possible. Can the Loons regain their lost momentum with a win at home and carry it on their next road trip?

Will Abu Danladi regain his form from last year?

In the last game against Vancouver Danladi scored his first goal of the season. He has struggled with injuries all season until finally getting healthy in the last couple weeks. He is facing increased pressure to perform with the new signing of Angelo Rodriguez. Can he come on as a late-game substitute and positively affect games like he was doing last season?
