Rapids Losing Streak

Podcast (July 19, 2018) – Hello Rapids Fans! Today on Holding The High Line, Matt can breathe again and sounds normal just in time for Rocky Mountain Cup! We talk about the World Cup coming to an end and wonder why France has a rooster as their logo.

Holding The High Line: Giles Barnes debut, Rocky Mountain Cup Preview

Rabbi and Red recap Saturday’s match against the Houston Dynamo and talk about Giles Barnes making his first appearance in Burgundy and Blue. We look ahead to the Rocky Mountain Cup and by that, we mean talking about Mike Freaking Petke and his rants. Mark gives us a full training update in From Field 20, and we answer a bunch of questions in #AskHTHL.

The show ends with Matt’s on-field interview with Rapids Sporting Director and General Manager Padraig Smith. We close the books on #AignerGate, discuss the transfer window, Boca Juniors, sports analytics, and much more.

Matt Pollard is the Managing Editor of Last Word on Soccer and an engineer by day. A Colorado Convert, he started covering the Colorado Rapids as a credentialed member of the press in 2016, though he’s watched MLS since it started. When he’s not watching or writing about soccer, he’s being an outdoorsman (mostly skiing and hiking) in this beautiful state or trying a new beer. For some reason, he thought that starting a podcast with Mark was a good idea and he can’t figure out how to stop this madness. He also hosts Last Word SC Radio.

Mark Goodman, aka the Rapids Rabbi, moved to Colorado in 2011. Shortly thereafter he went to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, saw Lee Nguyen dribble a ball with the silky smoothness of liquid chocolate cascading into a Bar Mitzvah fountain, and promptly fell head over heels in love with domestic soccer. When not watching MLS or coaching U8 soccer, he’s generally studying either Talmud or medieval biblical exegesis. Which explains why he watches so much MLS, probably. He writes about the Rapids for Around MLS and covers the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL for Last Word on Soccer. He also writes for American Soccer Analysis.
