Montclair, New Jersey (July 13, 2018) – New York Red Bulls II got a hat trick from Jared Stroud as they swept to a 5-1 victory against the Richmond Kickers at MSU Soccer Park. Stroud opened the scoring after just 63 seconds as NYRB II continue their home dominance over the side from Virginia.

Hosts Scored Early and Often…Yet Again
Just like last week vs. Atlanta United 2, it didn’t take long for the hosts to put a digit on the scoreboard. Travis Worra deflected off the Red Bulls II forward and into the net and Stroud added a second in the 13th minute to put the hosts in control. Amando Moreno then added a third in the 34th minute before Brian White notched his seventh goal of the season on the hour-mark and Stroud completed his hat-trick eight minutes later to give the hosts a five-goal lead.
No Clean Sheet but the Defense Held Firm
In what would be known as one of the strangest moments for the match, NYRB II goalkeeper Evan Louro was sent off for receiving a second yellow card after objecting a foul. That allowed Brian White to step in because the Red Bulls already used their complement of substitutions. However, New York’s defense stood firm, not allowing the Kickers another goal and sealing the win.
Three Things About the Match
1. The New York Red Bulls II claimed a second consecutive lopsided victory on home turf with Friday night’s result. New York’s victory moved it up to sixth place in the Eastern Conference ahead of Saturday night’s action as it continued its free-scoring ways at home this season.
2. New York has now scored 33 goals in its 10 home games this season, a total that is not only 12 goals more than any other side on home turf this season, but more than every team in the league aside from FC Cincinnati (35) and Phoenix Rising FC (34). New York has racked up at least four goals in six of its 10 home games this season, making MSU Soccer Park one of the toughest places to play in the league.
3. It’s rare that a player records both a goal and a save in the same game, but that was part of Brian White’s stat line on the night for the Red Bulls II as he picked up the gloves with his side out of substitutes when starting goalkeeper Evan Louro was sent off with 13 minutes to go. Richmond goalkeeper Travis Worra, meanwhile, recorded a single-game high for the 2018 season with 12 saves for the Kickers, an indicator of the Red Bulls II’s dominance in the contest overall.
