Neymar and Brazil did not deserve to go to the World Cup Semifinal over Belgium

The Brazilians had an excellent start to the game, creating several good chances and forcing Belgium to scramble and clear balls out of the box. The Red Devils held their own and stymied their opponents in the box.

Against the run of play, Belgium got an own goal off a corner off of Fernandinho on the 13th minute. They against the run of play, Kevin De Bruyne scored the game-winner against the run of play. From that point, Belgium was able to close up shop and get the win with only De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, and Romelu Lukaku, who all had excellent games.

In the end, Neymar and company recorded 26 shots to just eight for Belgium. Belgium’s chances were very high quality and made them count, unlike Brazil. Would you rather have a lot of low-quality chances or a few high-quality chances to score?

Brazil had a lot of the ball and got it forward, but they couldn’t get behind or through the back three of Belgium. The defensively minded 3-4-3 from Roberto Martinez was well prepared and performed well, not giving Neymar or Marcelo any room to work. By the time Philippe Coutinho and others got forward, Belgium had the play under control.

The favorites also missed a number of chances, especially in the final minutes with the score 2-1. In the end, the team that made the plays at the critical moments advanced.

Neymar and Brazil did not deserve to advance. Some critics have been harsh on the Brazilian No. 10 this tournament due to his antics and acting upon getting fouled or appearing to get fouled. Opponents and several officials grew tired of this and his attempts to curry favor with the officials.

Regardless of whether is acts of simulation are condemnable or not, Neymar is out of the tournament and rightfully so.
