Philadelphia, Pa. – The Philadelphia Union played host to the visiting Dom Dwyer and Orlando City SC on Friday night on the most beautiful night of the year thus far. The Union are coming off a hard fought, but disappointing draw against the San Jose Earthquakes last week.

4’ Beautiful opportunity two minutes in a row. David Accam makes a ginormous push inside the 18 and crosses it across the net for Fafa Picault. Picault was way out of reach and was subsequently cleared. The Union have looked especially dangerous to start the game so far.
9’ A dangerous opportunity for Orlando as a Dom Dwyer cross to Pinho led to a shot on net that was magnificently cleared off the line by Jack Elliot. It is hard to put into words how great it looked so here’s a link to the clearance.
16’ A solo effort from, who else, David Accam led to a low driven shot towards the lower left corner of the net. Joe Bendik stood on his head and pushed it to the side for a corner kick. All Union thus far.
26’ There goes David Accam again through on goal. This time he uses the outside of his foot to put a ball on net. It hit the outside of the left post and went out for a goal kick. Something has to give sooner or later at some point right?
38’ Well Orlando City finally broke the tie with a well-timed run and skill from U.S international Dom Dwyer. He barely beats the offsides trap and finesses a shot right around Andre Blake. 1-0 now for the Lions.
45’ Chris Mueller’s solo run through the Union defense resulted in a fantastic finish and a goal for Orlando. 2-0 now for Lions and there weren’t any signs of letting up.
52’ 18-year old Mark McKenzie makes his MLS debut tonight when he comes on for an injured Jack Elliot. The addition of McKenzie once again makes the Union’s back for the youngest in league history with an average age of around 20 years old.
Around the middle of the half the crowd and the Union have grown especially restless with the referees stemming from early in the game.
76’ Jay Simpson makes his season debut when he came on for sparkplug David Accam.
The rest of the game went without many notable chances and the scoreline would end 2-0. The Union lose for the first time at home this season and second time altogether. They travel away next week to face off against F.C Dallas.
