New York Red Bulls Attack Shines, to Take Down Minnesota United 3-0

HARRISON, NJ (March 24th, 2018) – There’s nothing like home cooking for the New York Red Bulls.

New York rode goals by Alex Muyl and a Bradley Wright-Phillips brace to a robust home victory against Minnesota United FC after a lackluster match away at Real Salt Lake. While the match started slowly for the Red Bulls, their confidence grew as the match wore on.

Muyl, the oft-maligned midfielder, put the Red Bulls on the board in the 15th minute with a screamer on the right side. Kyle Duncan, in his third MLS match, put the ball on Muyl’s foot, and the midfielder made it look easy.

Bradley Wright-Phillips added his first goal of the night on a midair toe-poke off a set piece. His second goal came in the 78th minute. Muyl, who finished the night with a goal and an assist, made a pretty forward pass to Wright-Phillips. The striker coolly put the ball over goalkeeper Matthew Lampson’s right shoulder.

Captain Luis Robles was forced to make 4 splendid saves. One of the best came off an Ethan Finlay shot. Finlay got the ball in space and Robles cames off his line fearlessly. The Loons, despite occasional pressure, were increasingly overwhelmed by the Red Bulls press.

The Red Bulls continue their MLS schedule on Saturday, March 31st, on the road. They travel to Orlando to face the Lions and their former captain Sacha Kljestan.
