Barcelona’s Luis Suárez found the net last Saturday in a vital 1-1 draw against Atlético Madrid on the eighth match day of La Liga in Spain.

The decisive goal came just four days after Suárez scored twice for Uruguay in a 4-2 win against Bolivia in the last match day of CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers. The “Celeste” team earned a spot in the 2018 World Cup in Russia with that triumph at Montevideo.

Suárez then returned to Barcelona for an important road game at Atlético, and the Uruguayan tied the game at 82nd-minute.

Barcelona lead the Spanish league with 22 points, four points clear of second place Valencia and five points ahead of Real Madrid. It was Suárez’s third goal this season, and also the third in a four day-spam.

Icardi’s legacy grows in Milán

Mauro Icardi proved he’s one of the best strikers in the world after scoring a hat-trick last Sunday in the Milán Derby.

The Argentinean defeated AC Milan by scoring three times in Inter’s 3-2 victory to take over second place in Serie A with 22 points, jumping Juventus.

Icardi didn’t have greats performances for Argentina in the qualifiers. He has no goals in the three games he played this year for the national team. But surely, he showed he can score in deciding matches.

Icardi scored a penalty in the last minute of the ‘Derby’ to give the win to Inter, and he seemed like he was waiting for that moment.

“We deserved it,” Icardi said. ”I am very exciting for this win.”

After eight matches, Inter is in second position, just two points behind leaders Napoli (24). Icardi was asked about Inter’s chances to win its first Serie A title since 2010. “It’s too soon to speak about the title, we have to go game by game,” he said.

This was Icardi’s fifth hat-trick in his career, and his first this season.

Brief rest for Cavani

The Uruguayan Edinson Cavani rested in the last PSG game against Dijion last Sunday. Cavani was the top scorer of CONMEBOL qualifiers with 10 goals, and added one in the last matchday versus Bolivia. He will return in this week for the club.

Crucial matches ahead

Suárez and Cavani will have massive games this week as UEFA Champions League returns.

In the third match day, Barcelona and Suárez will host Olympiacos on Wednesday, Oct. 18th while PSG will face off Anderlecht the same day. Both teams are leaders in their groups with six points.

Meanwhile, Icardi and Inter Milan will prepare to go head to head against the leader Napoli this Saturday Oct. 21st in the most important game in Italy this weekend. A victory will secure Inter the first place in the domestic league.
