Vom Steeg is born and raised in Santa Barbara and signed with Fortuna Dusseldorf last August at the age of 19. He spent 2015-2016 playing at UC Santa Barbara. He made 20 starts and was named to the 2015 Big West All-Freshman Team. From everything that has been reported, this move back to California with the LA Galaxy organization is on a free transfer.

“We are very excited to bring Justin into our organization with LA Galaxy II. He has acquired a lot of experience at such a young age and he’s a great addition for our club,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Pete Vagenas.

Vom Steeg joins Los Dos in the middle of what has been a rough year for them. They are currently out of a playoff spot in the USL. It has also been a rough year at goalkeeper for across the organization with Brian Rowe and Clement Diop having struggles with the first team.

“Justin has shown his quality internationally and we believe he’ll be a big asset for us. We look forward to his growth within our organization,” said LA Galaxy II Head Coach Mike Muñoz.

At the International level, Vom Steeg has represented the United States Men’s National team at the U-14, U-15, U-17, U-18 and U-20 levels.

The new goalkeeper will be available for the Saturday match against San Antonio FC.
