Busio is an extremely talented forward, who has been playing at higher age levels than his own since joining the Sporting KC academy in 2016. He played at both the Under 14 and Under 16 levels, even ending the year at the under 18 spot as well. He was in training with Sporting KC this year, prior to their season opener against DC United.

The talented young forward is adept at direct free kicks, and has a good mix of tactical and technical ability, on top of flair and finesse. Most recently, his skill was on display at the U-15 Boys CONCACAF Championship, where he helped lead the US Boys National Team to a second place finish.

Busio isn’t originally from Kansas City, but from Greensboro, North Carolina. Due to the fact that nobody has homegrown territory over that place, he essentially becomes a free agent for whatever academy wants to take him. According to the Kansas City Star, it was the tour of the first team facilities that helped win him over in recruitment to Sporting’s academy. He is currently living with a host home as part of Sporting KC’s Residency Program.

According to the Kansas City Star, he is expected to spend this year with the Under-17 academy team. It’s hard to predict when you would ever see him with the Sporting KC first team, but don’t be shocked if he has time with Swope Park Rangers in 2018. He’s one of the most talented kids under 18 in the country, and by far the most talented in his “HS Graduation Class” year.
