CARSON, CA (August 12, 2017) – It’s East vs. West this Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA. The LA Galaxy play host to their east coast counter part New York City FC. On paper this game is enticing enough on its own, but when you dig into the details the game gets that much more interesting. Both teams come into this game on different forms. The LA Galaxy are itching for a win under the new (second) Sigi Schmid era. While NYCFC and Head Coach Patrick Vieira are coming into this game on a huge high note after beating their city rivals New York Red Bulls in the New York Derby. And Last Word on Soccer is here to preview the game LA Galaxy vs New York City FC.

LA Galaxy vs NY City FC Preview:

LA Galaxy:

After a tough road loss against Portland Timbers, the LA Galaxy will be looking to finally break their wretched form. It’s been now seven straight league games that the Galaxy have gone with out a win. After the appointment of Head Coach Sigi Schmid, many fans were optimistic about the team turning it around. But as of late with just two games into the Schmid era, it looks like the Galaxy are still up to their old ways. The good news about this game is that the Frenchman Romain Alessandrini will be available. And will most likely be seeing playtime right off the back. Will also see the home debut for Jonathan dos Santos. The Dos Santos era is upon us and now both Giovanni dos Santos and Jonathan will have to prove their leather brother force. Anything less than a win will be seeing as a failure Saturday night. Which means it will be interesting to see how the players react to the pressure and whether or not they crumple under it.

New York City FC:

Patrick Vieira’s men are coming off a huge win against their city rivals New York Red Bulls. So naturally coming into this game their confidence will be high. Especially considering the fact that they’re in much better form than the Galaxy. As far as the tactic battle goes, Vieira will find it tough to out fox a fox like Sigi Schmid in the technical box. But if it comes down to something that the NYCFC have that LA doesn’t, it’s a leather potent striker. The key difference in the game for New York will be David Villa and how well he can slip away from the Galaxy defense. With his track record many will put the Spanish to be on the scoreboard Saturday night. But it’s not to say the game will be easy for this side. Vieira knows he will find a cautious Galaxy that may be hard to open up, but is confident his side will get the result they’re looking for.

Last Word:

In the end fans and neutrals alike can look forward to this game. It looks to be a promising one for goals and entertainment. On one end you have the Galaxy who have conceded 40 goals in 22 games. And on the other end you have a NYCFC scoring for fun at times. The New Yorkers come into the game as favorites, while the Galaxy will need a result and fast. The season is slowly getting shorter and shorter. Which means if there’s any hope for the LA Galaxy to make it to the playoffs this season, on Saturday against New York City FC they’ll need no more no less than a win.
