Raising Bulls 26 April 2017 – David Najem and Brendan Doherty

This week, the guys break down a tough road draw at the Rochester Rhinos. The Red Bulls had a rough evening, but looked like they would grab all three points after a big mistake from Rhino’s keeper Tomas Gomez.

Gomez collided with his teammate Ryan Felix on a cross from Justin Bilyeu. The ball fell perfectly to Vincent Bezecourt. The midfielder easily scored his fifth of the season by calmly putting the ball into the open net.

While NY led the game in the second half, they did not look like the better team. Rochester rebounded well from their loss to Charleston, but still showed some of their defensive issues. Bob Lilley will surely keep working the team.

Next up, David Najem joined the show for a great chat. Najem is in his second year with the club and seems to have locked down a spot in the starting XI. David had played with the Red Bull academy, but after graduating from college, he moved overseas to play for FC Eintracht Bamberg in the lower divisions of Germany.

Finally, we finish up with a USL roundtable. Brendan Doherty, USL blogger and co-host of ‘The USL Show’ joined us to cover a lot of ground. We discussed Rochester’s difficulties, Charleston’s hot start, the USL third division (and the possibility of promotion and relegation.), and the infamous bite in Cincinnati. The USL’s top scorer, Djibi Fall, allegedly bit Niall McCabe on the face during this weekend’s match. The USL is investigating the incident, but what kind of suspension should we expect to see?
