Following the cancellation of the Barbarians game against England this weekend due to the Baa-Baas squad breaking their bubble restrictions, footage has emerged of the meal, including some major Premiership stars.
‘Barbarians 12’ break covid restrictions
The 12 includes the likes of Chris Robshaw, Sean Maitland, Richard Wigglesworth and Jackson Wray, some of whom have put out apologies on their social media.
The match is expected to have cost the RFU a seven-figure sum, which is desperately needed in the hard times Covid has left the RFU in financially.
Whilst the game was uncapped it was also a prime opportunity to see some fresh young English stars like Ollie Thorley hit the international stage.
See the footage below, taken from Reddit, of the group of players socialising against the bubble rulings.
Players apologise
Some of those apologies were placed on social media, but some left fans feeling they weren’t quite as heartfelt as first intended.
Embarrassed and beyond gutted to have let Vern Cotter and everyone @Barbarian_FC down as well as the RFU. Should not have happened and for that I am truly sorry. I’ve let a lot of people down including myself and wish I’d done it differently. Sorry again.
