Louis Rees-Zammit set to make Wales squad debut

Louis Rees-Zammit

Gloucester ace Louis Rees-Zammit is set to be named in the Wales senior squad; Last Word understands.

The Cherry and Whites winger has been on outstanding form this season, winning December Player of the Month in the Gallagher Premiership, bagging seven tries along the way.

First senior call-up for Louis Rees-Zammit

Rees-Zammit has most recently played at the Wales U18s level but is set to skip the U20s for the big stage as Wayne Pivac gets set to name the young star in his Six Nations squad.

The squad will be around 40 names long and the 18-year old is expected to make the cut.

Wales has plenty of depth at winger with the likes of George North, Liam Williams, Josh Adams the incumbent back three, with all three able to play out wide. You have the likes of Owen Lane and Steff Evans who will push the extra spots along with Cardiff Blues winger Hallam Amos.

Jonah Holmes found some excellent form at the beginning of the season, including his four tries against Pau, but has only recently returned after a long spell out with injury.

‘If you’re good enough, you’re young enough’

We all know the old saying, but this really is true when it comes to the young, Llandaff RFC product. Despite his lack of experience he shows great awareness on the rugby field and isn’t afraid to get involved in-field.

Some of his best moves this season have actually come from the middle of the park.

Wayne Pivac names his squad at 11am tomorrow morning.
