Wales announce team for England clash

Warren Gatland has announced his Wales team to face England in the first of four warm-up tests.

Wales Team

Alun Wyn Jones will become Wales’ all-time most capped player when he lines up against England on Sunday.

He’s joined by Adam Beard in the boilerhouse and they’ll pack down behind Nicky Smith, Ken Owens and Tomas Francis

The pack is completed with Aaron Wainwright, Justin Tipuric and Ross Moriarty.

Gatland has gone as strong as he can and as such Both Gareth Davies and Gareth Anscombe line up in the half back slots.

Hadleigh Parkes and Jon Davies complete an experienced midfield and will be aided by George North, Josh Adams and Liam Williams.

The Bench

Aaron Shingler gets a welcome return to Wales action if he is used from the bench. He’s joined by Scarlets teammates Jake Ball and Wyn Jones.

Elliot Dee and Dillon Lewis complete the replacement front row.

Tomas Williams, Dan Biggar and Owen Watkin complete the lineup.

The opposition

Eddie Jones has started with a slightly experimental squad.

George Ford will captain England with 377 caps in the starting XV which includes two debutants.

Gloucester Rugby’s Willi Heinz is named at halfback and Ruaridh McConnochie is set to start on the right wing.

Anthony Watson will play on the left wing in his first Test since March 2018 following long-term injury.

Luke Cowan-Dickie is named at hooker and will make his first start in 12 matches for England.

A further three uncapped players Lewis Ludlam, Joe Marchant and Jack Singleton are named as finishers.
