A crowd of 51,000 fans were on hand to witness the Springboks beat Wallabies by 35 points to 17 in their Rugby Championship clash at Emirates Airlines Park, on Saturday.

There was a lot of emotion on display as this was the first Test played by the Springboks after the untimely death of Springbok James Small as well as South African music icon Johnny Clegg. Clegg’s song “Impi” has been used for years to introduce the Springboks onto the field.
This was a tight and hard-fought Test, although the quality was variable thought out the game. This was mostly understandable as the Springbok side has a distinct experimental look to it and the Wallabies had to deal with a number of injuries. The work done by the Springboks to manufacture both Herschel Jantjies’ and Sibusiso Nkosi’s tries, was special.
Stand out players for the Springboks
Debutant Jantjies proved he has a big future ahead of him. A brace of tries, he deservedly received the Man of the Match award.
