Danny Cipriani's Gloucester contract

A lot of speculation has risen in recent weeks surrounding Danny Cipriani’s Gloucester contract with head coach Johan Ackermann and CEO Stephen Vaughan both having their say. Following the latest article from Vaughan, Cipriani briefly had his say on Twitter.

Cipriani’s current situation

Speaking on the remaining length of time on his contract Ackermann stated he had a year left, later backed up by Vaughan.

Danny Cipriani has added his own words to that via a tweet, now deleted, in response to his CEO’s interview.

Cipriani seemingly not happy

The tweet was hastily deleted but would suggest that the English fly half isn’t happy with his contract situation that ceases at the end of 2019/20.

Why he is possibly unhappy isn’t publicly known, but it may be a surprise to Cherry and Whites fans that their star man isn’t 100% happy with his contract negotiations.

In the interview with Gloucestershire Live, Vaughan said, “This is another case where it seems dramatic to everyone else but there’s no drama internally.

“Danny’s got another season after this season on his contract anyway and as per a number of players who come out of contract next season who we clearly rate very highly, we’re having conversations with him about his future.

“But I could say the same about a number of players genuinely, we’ve got a number of very well known players who are coming out of contract next season and equally we’ve had conversations with them.”
