Gloucester injury list ahead of Saracens clash

Johan Ackermann spoke to the press ahead of Saracens clash at Kingsholm and gave a comprehensive squad update before his men meet the league leaders this coming Friday. Robert Rees has your Gloucester injury list as a number of big names are set to return.

Kriel set to make return

South African back row Jaco kriel is fit and will be in with a shout of making the squad to face Saracens this Friday. ” Jaco is all clear and is available for selection.”

Sharples gets cast off

Charlie Sharples’ struggles with a hand injury seem to be coming to an end as he has his cast off. Ackermann saying,” Charlie’s [Sharples] cast is off which is good news so now it’s a question of how quick he can regain the strength in his hand. They say normally it takes a week, two weeks at most so hopefully he’ll be available from next week.”

This is good news for the Cherry and Whites as Sharples is their top try scorer in the Premiership with nine tries to his name.

No fresh injury news

Gloucester fans will sleep tight knowing that there are no fresh concerns following their clash with Exeter Chiefs last Friday. ” All our niggles that we had following Friday’s game seems to have recovered well. The only player who couldn’t train so far is Ben Morgan, but the medical staff are happy he’ll be there on Friday night.” Said the head coach.

Duo return to full training

The duo of Henry Purdy and Italian international Jake Polledri have returned to full training which will only enhance their depth further.

” Henry Purdy and Jake Polledri are full back in training so the stakes are looking good.”

Squad not far from full availability

Gloucester’s squad isn’t far from being back at full strength with key some key front row men not far from full fitness.

” At lock and back row and suddenly in the back three with the wingers coming back it’s not nice to select the team as you know people will be disappointed. We still have Val [Rapava Ruskin] and Ruan Dreyer to come back and hopefully in the next couple of weeks we’ll be fortunate not too add to this list and get those back again.”

Hudson still out with concussion

” [Tom Hudson’s] still not available yet. He’s struggling to get over a concussion he picked up in the Bath game, but we’ll get there. It’s just a question of getting him enough rest.” Said Ackermann.
