Gallagher Premiership Countdown to 2018/19 Continues

We are on the eve of the season kickoff, so Last Word on Rugby is looking back to last season’s highlights. Here is our Gallagher Premiership Countdown to whet your appetites ahead of Bristol vs Bath on Friday night.

Remembering 2017/18

The 2017/18 season did not disappoint, from Gloucester’s dramatic victory over Exeter in game one, all the way to the heavyweight final at Twickenham. The season included trips to the USA as well as the Olympic Stadium and Wembley in London.

And what about the best tries of the season? Scores shown here from Billy Twelvetrees, inspired by ‘magical’ Henry Trinder, Jack Singleton and Sinoti Sinoti will live long in the memory.

Who Will be Champions of England?

Saracens snatched the Premiership back off Exeter Chiefs back in May, despite finishing second in the table. They certainly look in no mood to relinquish it again.

The statistics show that in 2017/18 the best players were evenly spread across most teams, so Saracens will have to be at their best as a team again to retain the title.

Gallagher Premiership Countdown: Looking Ahead

Excited yet? All the signs suggest the 2018/19 season can go one better. With the return of Bristol the relegation battle threatens to be a fascinating watch.

The mid-table scrap for the top six European places will be as competitive as ever, and the race for the play-offs should go down to the wire again.
