Gloucester seal bonus point in stunning last ten minutes

Gloucester Rugby

Gloucester scored three tries in the last ten minutes to seal the bonus point victory they so badly needed to remain in touch with the top four and play-off spots. A furious game of rugby that saw both sides make mistakes pushes Gloucester up to sixth, whilst Harlequins languish down in ninth.

Bold last ten minutes as Gloucester seal bonus point in style

With 70 minutes gone Gloucester had only managed to score one try, but a brutal last ten forced the issue and a Ruan Ackermann try sealed the bonus point.

Gloucester opened their account through the boot of Billy Twelvetrees before Marcus Smith leveled up soon after. It was then Gloucester who scored next, a lovely clean break by Twelvetrees setting up Braley who dived under the posts to make it 10-3.

A further two penalties from Smith and one from Twelvetrees sent the sides into the half 13-9 to the hosts.

A hoard of penalties and handling errors littered the first 25 minutes or so of the second half, with Twelvetrees penalty the only score during this period. 16-9 heading into the final ten minutes.

A bonus point now surely seemed out of reach.

It was Jason Woodward who scored their second. Crossing over in the corner following a hint of a forward pass in the build up. Well finished and Kingsholm roared into full voice.

Man of the match Jake Polledri was the next name on the scoresheet, breaking through inside 10 metres and crossing underneath the posts. All stemming from a big driving maul inside their own half that they attacked from.

The forwards, well on top at this point had several late chances. Two five metre lineouts, Quins only holding out the one. Ruan Ackermann was at the back of the resulting maul and crossed over to rapturous cheering and applause.

The bonus point well and truly sealed as Gloucester move up to sixth and close the gap to fourth place by two points.
