Motorcross Rider Levi Sherwood Headlines NZ Sevens Entertainment

Red Bull X Fighter Madrid Levi Sherwood

Levi Sherwood is a household name for FMX Motorcross fans worldwide. His actions and riding create new ground-breaking trends within that industry. For the Kiwi born star, he will now headline the New Zealand Sevens entertainment, when the 2018 round of the HSBC Sevens Series hits Hamilton.

Removed from Wellington, the updated New Zealand (NZ) Sevens event is looking to become a sporting and entertainment destination. After losing some of it’s attraction, the 2018 version will incorporate plenty of off-field entertainment – and that is where the Palmerston North native will provide his own touch to the spectacle on Sunda.

In a coup for tournament goers, a jump ramp will be inserted into the heart of the Mill Street Park Entertainment Zone for Sherwood to wow the crowd with the skills that have made him the most successful rider in the history of Red Bull X-Fighters.

“With Levi Sherwood getting in behind the Sevens, the hottest tickets of summer just became complete scorchers,” said New Zealand Sevens General Manager Steve Dunbar.

Public tickets for the HSBC New Zealand Sevens have sold out, however, there are still limited opportunities for rugby and FMX fans to get tickets through hospitality options; via www.sevens.co.nz.

With the World Rugby series bringing the worlds best players running out onto FMG Stadium Waikato, the two day event will bring rugby sevens fans together. They will see a full schedule of matches, but the organizers realize that entertainment has an important place.

Taking the hosting rights away from Wellington, where it had lost it’s attraction, Hamilton have decided to have entertainment at the venue, but also attractions outside the ground. This way, fans can be entertained either post-games or take a ‘time out’ from the matches.

“Levi is a massive drawcard for the tournament and his presence is a real score for Hamilton. Those lucky enough to have tickets will get far more for their money than world-class sevens rugby. We have an exciting entertainment offering planned over the whole weekend including Levi and his amazing tricks.

“Hamilton’s Sevens’ festival will spill outside the stadium into the Mill Street Entertainment Zone. Fans will get to see Levi performing tricks on the ramp that will run nearly the length of the entertainment area. All entertainment and fun rides are included in the ticket price, so it’s outstanding value for money,” Dunbar said.

Sherwood Can’t Wait to Perform in Hamilton

“I’m really looking forward to the Sevens in Hamilton. Usually I’m always competing overseas, so it’s great to be able to ride at home, showcase my tricks for the fans and let people see the recent progression of FMX.”

His tricks include the very first double backflip ever performed on the Red Bull X Fighters circuit. Those and other manoeuvres will be displayed, along with other entertainment.

With Red Bull now on-board as the official Energy Drink Partner of the HSBC New Zealand Sevens, the stars will come out on Sunday.

Fans can also expect rugby-friendly activities over Saturday and Sunday, merchandise, food and alcohol sales during the whole of the two day tournament. A family zone will be open, as well as the popular Party Zones.

This first year will likely be extremely popular, and if the All Blacks Sevens team can perform on the field, then it would cap off a great weekend in Hamilton.
