Major League Wrestling<\/strong> looks to jumpstart the one area lacking in their promotion: the women’s division. With the reboot on the horizon as MLW Battle Riot III<\/strong> takes place on July 10th from Philadelphia, the league announced on Tuesday, July 7th that they added Dave Prazak to their staff. Prazak helped to found SHIMMER Women Athletes<\/strong>, the leading women’s wrestling promotion in the United States with Allison Danger<\/strong> back in 2005. Scores of women have competed for the brand and many have gone onto superstar success in major promotions such as WWE, IMPACT Wrestling, Ring of Honor<\/strong>, and many other companies across the globe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is the official press release from MLW regarding the hiring of Dave Prazak:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Major League Wrestling\u00ae today announced that Dave Prazak has joined the league’s office of wrestling operations.<\/em><\/p>\n

Prazak, recognized as one of the foremost promoters of women\u2019s wrestling, will focus on spearheading the launch of MLW\u2019s women\u2019s division, set to premiere this summer.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cDuring my twenty-five years working in the sport thus far, I\u2019ve had the opportunity to serve in a number of different capacities, for many companies which have focused on different types of professional wrestling,\u201d states Prazak. \u201cIt is that variety of styles, and the right mix of different elements which makes me most excited to join the team at Major League Wrestling. I\u2019ve loved the way that MLW has provided its audience with a roster of amazing talent from around world, and I look forward to offering my own contributions to the company going forward. Having focused greatly on the promotion of women\u2019s wrestling over the years, I value the chance to assist some very deserving SHIMMER athletes in receiving opportunities to grow by entering the MLW ranks. The addition of more women to MLW events in the future will only add to the wonderful variety already featured as part of the MLW product.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Prazak, one of the most successful women\u2019s wrestling promoters in American history, founded SHIMMER in November 2005.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Mainly based in the Chicago area, SHIMMER has presented live cards throughout the United States and has been the forerunner in giving women athletes a stage to compete before the world.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

As MLW has a newly reformulated roster via their draft<\/a>, a new era of MLW is on the horizon. Having consistently had stacked heavyweight, middleweight, and tag team divisions, the league has only lacked in the women’s wrestling department. We hope the addition of Prazak allows another opportunity for the women of today to get a chance to shine on a larger platform.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
