The event billed as “A Celebration Of Black Professional Wrestling” turned out to be a success because many up-and-comers who appeared on the card landed on the 2020 PWI 500 or debuted with companies such as Ring of Honor or All Elite Wrestling. Air Wolf, better known as AEW’s Darius Martin, and “The Frontman” Jah-C stole the show in last year’s opening match.

Although Top Flight made the jump to network television, Jah-C was the breakout indie star of the event. He hoped to prove as much as challenged JDX for the vacant Black Wrestlers Matter Championship. During an interview with Daily DDT, JDX revealed that he was supposed to face West for the title at the first show. Instead, the Chicago native headlined the event against an indie wrestling legend, ACH.

JDX was victorious against ACH and quickly set his sights on the championship. But it became clear that he would have to go through his rival to attain it as he and The Frontman exchanged words on Twitter. The Real McCoy welcomed the challenge, setting the stage for the main event of Black Wrestlers Matter 2.

These two competitors aren’t strangers as they’ve met in the squared circle on three other occasions. However, the stakes were highest this time and they delivered a great match. In the end, Jah-C managed to turn the Des Moines crowd with a gutsy performance and narrowly defeat JDX to become the first Black Wrestler Matter champion.

JDX appeared dejected but he reluctantly congratulated his opponent before The Frontman nailed him with a superkick for his troubles. This could lead to a rematch someday. First, Queen Bee Brooke Valentine seemingly staked her claim as Jah-C’s first challenger to close the show.

Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
