As is typically the case post-WrestleMania, there is less buzz for the event. WrestleMania is the yearly phenomenon which everybody tunes in to see and this often leads to a post-Mania hangover, not just in show booking quality but with the fans too. There are some good matches in-store, however, so here’s hoping WrestleMania Backlash will provide us with that beneficial dose of aspirin to cure the hangover. As is routine for these events, we shall be taking a look at some of the betting odds on offer (per SkyBet) for each billed match. Let’s dive in!

Midweek WrestleMania Backlash Betting Odds Favorites

SmackDown Tag Team Championships: The Dirty Dawgs (c) vs The Mysterios

The only match of the night where the champions are the underdogs, it could be a big night for The Mysterios (Rey and Dominik Mysterio). The Dirty Dawgs (Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler) have enjoyed a nice, 125+ day reign since beating the Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) in January. The SmackDown Tag Team Championships are the centerpiece of an ever-expanding division and the champions might just be moving aside. Ziggler and Roode come in at 9/4, whilst the favorites come in with odds of 1/3. This means the Mysterios are only slight favorites and that there is room for error, but expect a title change.

Damian Priest vs The Miz

In what will come as little shock, Damian Priest is a heavy favorite here. With winning odds of 1/7 compared to Miz‘s 4/1, it looks a safe bet that Priest is walking out the victor. Miz is a WWE veteran and clearly a favorite of the creative brass. However, with the dominant debut Priest has, in addition to the megastar rub he received by aligning with Grammy Award winning artist Bad Bunny at WrestleMania 37, Priest has to win to continue riding his wave of momentum. You’d be wise to not bet against Priest.

RAW Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley (c) vs Asuka vs Charlotte

Good news for Rhea Ripley fans! The reigning RAW Women’s Champion comes into the match with odds of 4/7, making her favorite to retain. With Charlotte Flair coming in at 2/1, this will be welcome news to the growing legion of Ripley fans who believe it too soon for her to be losing the title. Asuka comes in as the heavy underdog with 13/2, so it might be wise to avoid placing a bet on the previous champion – unless you know something we don’t!

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs Bayley

Just like her fellow Royal Rumble finalist/RAW counterpart, Bianca Belair is favorite to retain her SmackDown Women’s Championship. In fact, she is the bookies’ favorite of the night, meaning her 1/16 odds are very bad news for Bayley (7/1). This should come as no surprise, with Belair riding high as one of the most prominent stars in the company right now. The WWE clearly seems something special in the EST and her heavy odds prove it. This match looks like a ding, dong goodbye for Bayley.

WWE Championship Match: Bobby Lashley (c) vs Drew McIntyre vs Braun Strowman

At odds of 2/5, Bobby Lashley is the favorite to retain his WWE Championship. It is simply too soon for the All Mighty to lose and therefore it comes as no surprise that he’s most likely to win. Second favorite is the arguable face of RAW, Drew McIntyre, who comes in with odds of 11/4, meaning that though it is unlikely he will walk out with the championship, he does have a chance. The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman, is the heavy outsider with odds of 7/1, meaning there is little hope for the big man. Expect a successful Lashley defense.

WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs Cesaro

In what will come as no surprise to regular betters, Roman Reigns is the heavy favorite here. The reigning WWE Universal Champion is the best thing going as Tribal Chief of SmackDown and it makes no sense for him to lose on this show. This is unfortunate for Cesaro, who is currently enjoying the greatest run of his WWE career to date. It is a shame that his odds of 7/2 make a win against Roman Reigns (1/6) so unlikely, because Cesaro deserves a big win. This just isn’t the time or place. With the WWE teasing something between Roman and cousin Jimmy Uso, we might expect something on that front. Expect the image of Roman standing tall as WrestleMania Backlash comes off the air this Sunday, May 16.

Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
