Several Puerto Rican wrestlers to debut for the Crash <\/strong><\/h2>\n

In what\u2019s been a huge surprise for everybody in Puerto Rico, The Crash Lucha Libre<\/strong> announced that for their show on November 29 in San Luis Potos\u00ed, Boricua standouts Mike Mendoza<\/strong>, Angel Fashion<\/strong> and Vanilla Vargas<\/strong> are going to debut for Mexico\u2019s 3rd <\/sup>premier promotion The Crash Lucha Libre. Mendoza & Fashion will team with 2-times WWC Universal Champion and The Crash regular Mecha Wolf 450 <\/strong>against Jack Evans<\/strong>, Willie Mack <\/strong>and Mascarita Dorada<\/strong>. Vanilla will be involved in mix tag team action.<\/p>\n

For Mendoza, is just another step in a ladder of successes that he has had in 2017. After the WWE<\/strong> tryout, almost everybody thought\u00a0that for the rest of 2017 that was going to be his best achievement, but with The Crash announcement, it seems that his journey keeps getting bigger. As for Fashion, this is the biggest test \u2013 for now \u2013 of his wrestling career. The man that started as a referee and rose to be a stable in World Wrestling Council<\/strong>\u2019s mid-card, seems to be expanding more with the passing of months since Hurricane Maria. He travelled to Florida and now is wrestling and training for WWE Hall of Famer<\/strong> and wrestling legend \u201cWild Samoan\u201d Afa<\/strong>\u2019s World Xtreme Wrestling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Finally, for Vanilla Vargas, she is the better prospect of the three, young and well-travelled, her formal training was actually in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL)<\/strong> in Mexico. She already performed in Arena Mexico and wrestle in several Indies in the United States. It seems that The Crash its best suited for her, as she is more accustomed to the Mexican-style of wrestling.<\/p>\n

Mick Foley and Rocky Romero to the rescue for Puerto Rico <\/strong><\/h2>\n

40 days after the most destructive Hurricane in Puerto Rico\u2019s history, the island is still \u2013 in its majority \u2013 without electrical power, bad telecommunications and clean water. Even with the external help, Puerto Rico is sitting with only 37% of the island being energize, long lines for first-need goods is the normal and natives are fleeing by the thousands each week.<\/p>\n

Mick Foley <\/strong>came in with a great movement to help Puerto Rico. The hashtag #wrestlingforPuertoRico was an auction that was able to raise $21,000\u00a0 for those damaged by Hurricane Maria in the island. In the auction, WWE talents and legends donated articles \u2013 usually signed by them. The Rock<\/strong>, Kevin Owens<\/strong>, Samoa Joe<\/strong>, Seth Rollins<\/strong>, Charlotte Flair<\/strong>, Becky Lynch<\/strong>, Puerto Rican born Lince Dorado<\/strong> and many others helped the WWE Hall of Famer to raise the $21,000 in this disastrous times.<\/p>\n

Another wrestler that helped the island in this tough times was former IWGP Jr. Heavyweight<\/strong> and Jr. Tag Team Champion<\/strong> Rocky Romero<\/strong>. Romero is part Cuban, but has family in Puerto Rico, specifically in Bayamon \u2013 an urban area, just 20 minutes from San Juan. He did an auction of his complete ring attire from New Japan Pro Wrestling<\/strong>\u2019s G1 Special in Long Beach. That\u2019s the same attire that Romero had when he and Trent Berretta challenged for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team titles for one last time against The Young Bucks<\/strong> in California.<\/p>\n

Puerto Rico represents in CKCW\u2019s One Year Anniversary <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Cleveland Knights Championship Wrestling<\/strong> is a wrestling promotion that prides itself on booking a lot of Puerto Rican talents. The company is having their One Year Anniversary in Cleveland<\/a>, Ohio and they\u2019re going all in on their mix of Puerto Rican talents and Indy wrestlers.<\/p>\n

The big match that has everyone\u2019s attention, is a fatal 4-way for the Championship Wrestling Association\u2019s Heavyweight title<\/strong>. Starr Roger<\/strong> \u2013 probably Puerto Rico\u2019s wrestler of the year \u2013 will have to defend his title against former X-Division Champion<\/strong> DJZ<\/strong>, former TNA World Tag Team Champion Robbie E<\/strong> and former Puerto Rican Champion \u2013 who is sign with CWA\u2019s rival promotion World Wrestling League<\/strong> \u2013 Mike Mendoza. Roger\u2019s 300 plus-days as CWA Champion<\/strong> will be put to the test against this top 3 indy names.<\/p>\n

Other big matches are: Vanilla Vargas \u00a9 vs. Sweet Nancy<\/strong> for CKCW Women Championship<\/strong>, State Line<\/strong> \u00a9 vs. against Puerto Rican legendary tag team Thunder & Lightning<\/strong>, WWE Hall of Fame tag team The Rock n\u2019 Roll Express<\/strong> vs. BJ & Hiram Tua<\/strong> vs. Team Storm<\/strong> and former WWE Intercontinental Champion Billy Gun<\/strong> vs. Joey Ryan<\/strong>. Regarding the CKCW Heavyweight Championship<\/strong>, Ring of Honor<\/strong> talent Shante Taylor<\/strong> was supposed to defend it against Angel Fashion and J-Rocc<\/strong>, but he had to forfeit his title because of conflicting schedules with ROH and CKCW. The Cleveland promotion decided to strip Shane Taylor of its CKCW title and later in 2018 ask for a rematch for it.<\/p>\n

Florida Wrestling Revolution turns up the heat <\/strong><\/h2>\n

As we reported in the latest edition of the Caribbean Report, a new wrestling promotion mainly run by talents from the Caribbean was going to start operating in Kissimmee, Florida. The FWR <\/strong>promotion owned by Ernesto Cruz<\/a> \u2013 a new promoter from Florida \u2013 has announced some matches for their February show.<\/p>\n

The main event will be headline by former WWE\/F talents Savio Vega <\/strong>and Miguel Perez Jr.<\/strong> \u2013 The Boricuas in the old World Wrestling Federation <\/strong>\u2013 against AAA <\/strong>talents Pagano <\/strong>and Psycho Clown<\/strong>. Also in action: Mike Mendoza <\/strong>vs. former AAA Mega Champion Texano Jr.<\/strong>, Angel Fashion<\/strong> vs. Hijo del Fantasma <\/strong>(King Cuernos in Lucha Underground), Dominican and WWC wrestling legend Bronco #1 <\/strong>vs. Fidel Sierra<\/strong> \u2013 also a WWC legend \u2013, Starr<\/strong> Roger<\/strong> vs. The Crash talent and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla<\/strong> regular Rey Horus <\/strong>(Dragon Azteca Jr. in LU) and Thunder & Lightning <\/strong>vs. Dennis River <\/strong>(Savio Vega\u2019s brother) and Noel Rodriguez<\/strong>, Cuervo<\/strong> vs. LU star Drago<\/strong>, among other matches. \u00a0Also, Dutch Mantell<\/strong> \u2013 previously known in WWE as Zeb Colter<\/strong> \u2013 will be honored in that show.<\/p>\n

Other news from the Caribbean<\/strong><\/h2>\n

– Mick Foley and Rocky Romero weren\u2019t the only ones having special events to help Puerto Rico. The youngest WWC Universal Champion<\/strong> ever BJ<\/strong> did a recollection of goods for those devastated by Hurricane Maria in Humacao \u2013 in the east side of Puerto Rico. He was joined by Puerto Rican Prospect Mark Davidson<\/strong> and several talents from Championship Wrestling School<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

– CWA is the first major promotion to put a wrestling show<\/a> in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. The show will be on November 20 in Toa Alta. At the moment the CWA Heavyweight Champion Starr Roger is the first talent to be confirmed.<\/p>\n

– As explained by Dave Meltzer<\/strong> in its latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mecha Wolf 450 \u2013 formerly known as Mr.450 \u2013 headlined with Ultimo Ninja<\/strong> vs. Penta 0M<\/strong> & Rey Fenix<\/strong> an indie show in Brownsville, Texas, drew about 1,500 fans.<\/p>\n

– Angel Cotto<\/strong> vs. Vertigo Rivera<\/strong> went to a no DQ<\/a> for the WWC Jr. Heavyweight Championship<\/strong> in Chicago for the show \u201cHalloween in Your Face\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n
