{"id":89171,"date":"2021-04-11T09:00:14","date_gmt":"2021-04-11T13:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/?p=89171"},"modified":"2021-04-11T07:52:12","modified_gmt":"2021-04-11T11:52:12","slug":"ddt-star-konosuke-takeshita-aew-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2021\/04\/11\/ddt-star-konosuke-takeshita-aew-debut\/","title":{"rendered":"DDT Star Konosuke Takeshita Makes AEW Debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday night at AEW&#8217;s first untelevised house show,\u00a0<em>The House Always Wins<\/em>, <strong>Kenny Omega<\/strong>&#8216;s squad with <strong>The Young Bucks<\/strong> and <strong>Michael Nakazawa<\/strong> was joined by a debuting fifth member in <strong>Konosuke Takeshita<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2020\/02\/01\/best-ddt-takeshita\/\" target=\"_self\">one of the top stars of <strong>Dramatic Dream Team (DDT Pro)<\/strong><\/a> in Japan since he debuted in 2012. DDT announced at the end of March that Takeshita <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ddtpro\/status\/1376456199852331012\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">was taking the month of April off<\/a> from the promotion, and it now appears that he has come in to possibly work a few weeks with AEW (or at least a few tapings), much like AEW has done with the likes of <strong>Maki Itoh<\/strong> and <strong>Ryo Mizunami<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Well, well, well. He&#8217;s already a 4x K-OD Openweight Champion in DDT Pro, and a 3x K-OD Tag Team Champion, most famously as part of <strong>Happy Mote<\/strong>l with Tetsuya Endo. Takeshita actually has a long history with Kenny Omega, stemming back to Omega&#8217;s pre-New Japan run with DDT, and usually as opponents. They first faced off in singles action at <em><strong>DDT Who&#8217;s Gonna Top?<\/strong><\/em> in September of 2012 (when Takeshita was just a teenager) and in 2014, Happy Motel had a feud over the K-OD Tag Team titles against <strong>Golden Lovers<\/strong> (Kenny Omega &amp; Kota Ibushi). Takeshita has also had a history with Michael Nakazawa in DDT as far back as 2013. It also marks Takeshita&#8217;s first match on US soil since WrestleMania Week in 2019, where he came for the DDT showcase\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2019\/03\/28\/wrestlemaniaweek-preview-ddt-pro-coming-to-america-4-4-19\/\" target=\"_self\"><em><strong>DDT Is Coming To America<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>in New York City, followed by matches at\u00a0<strong>EVOLVE Wrestling\u00a0<em>EVOLVE 125<\/em> <\/strong>and at\u00a0<strong>Kaiju Big Battel<\/strong>&#8216;s\u00a0<strong><em>Wrap It Up Party<\/em><\/strong> that same week.
