{"id":88426,"date":"2021-04-02T19:28:56","date_gmt":"2021-04-02T23:28:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/?p=88426"},"modified":"2021-04-08T19:15:25","modified_gmt":"2021-04-08T23:15:25","slug":"faye-jackson-to-retire-wrestlemania-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2021\/04\/02\/faye-jackson-to-retire-wrestlemania-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Faye Jackson to Retire Following WrestleMania Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In sad news, indie star <strong>Faye Jackson<\/strong> revealed earlier today that, following her appearance at <strong>Game Changer Wrestling (GCW)<\/strong>&#8216;s <em><strong>WrestleMania Week<\/strong><\/em> event, <em><strong>Allie Kat&#8217;s Real Hot Girl Sh*t<\/strong><\/em>, on Friday April 9, she will be stepping away from pro wrestling &#8220;for good.&#8221; It comes just days after she sustained a serious injury on March 28 at <strong>Hardcore Hustle Organization (H2O)<\/strong>&#8216;s charity event, <em><strong>Family: A Tribute to Terra Callaway<\/strong><\/em>, where she dislocated her elbow in the main event against <strong>Dan Barry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the injury, Jackson has had to withdraw from all of her WrestleMania Week matches, but her final appearance will be as the host of <strong><em>Faye Jackson&#8217;s Grey Sweatpants Battle Royal<\/em><\/strong> at the GCW event. &#8220;I\u2019ve told close friends and now I\u2019m making it officially public,&#8221; she said in her Twitter post on Friday. &#8220;After Tampa I am stepping away from wrestling for good. I want to thank everyone that has ever been a fan of Faye Jackson. Y\u2019all gave me inspiration to do something I never thought I could do. I hope somehow I made an impact on professional wrestling. Now it\u2019s time for me to take a bow. In February 2016, she made her ROH debut as Faye Jackson on a <strong>Women of Honor<\/strong> special, where she was defeated by <strong>ODB<\/strong>. As well as being a part of ROH&#8217;s revamped Women of Honor women&#8217;s division, she began to work in the Northeast indie scene, with the likes of <strong>BriiCombination Wrestling (BCW)<\/strong> and <strong>East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA)<\/strong>, as well as women&#8217;s promotions like <strong>Queens of Combat<\/strong> and <strong>RISE Wrestling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Women of Honor Wednesday: Faye Jackson VS ODB - Nashville, TN\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/j1P50aDGNY0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After being relegated to mostly dark matches with Ring of Honor, Jackson left the promotion in 2016, diving headfirst into the indie scene. At Queens of Combat, she captured the QOC tag team title with <strong>Willow Nightingale<\/strong> in <strong>Thick &amp; Juicy<\/strong> and also won the BCW women&#8217;s title, which she held for 375 days. Over the next two years, she expanded her presence in the U.S. indie scene, working her home state <strong>Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW)<\/strong>, as well as <strong>Beyond Wrestling<\/strong>, H2O, <strong>Pro Wrestling Magic (PWM), IWA Mid-South, Carolina Wrestling Federation (CWF) Mid-Atlantic<\/strong>, and <strong>Women&#8217;s Superstars Uncensored (WSU)<\/strong>. In December 2017, she made her return to JCW &#8211; now rebranded as GCW &#8211; where she defeated Allie Kat in the latter&#8217;s GCW debut. Jackson also made her Canadian debut with <strong>Ethan Page<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Alpha-1<\/strong> in Oshawa, Ontario.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Faye Jackson VS. During her time in Europe, she also made her United Kingdom debut with <strong>Pro Wrestling EVE<\/strong> in a <strong><em>SHE-1<\/em><\/strong> qualifier against <strong>Rhia O&#8217;Reilly<\/strong>. She closed out 2019 with some huge matches, facing <strong>Thunder Rosa<\/strong> on the West Coast, teaming with <strong>Nick Gage<\/strong> to take down <strong>Rickey Shane Page<\/strong> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2019\/07\/28\/indie-watch-jody-threat\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Jody Threat<\/strong><\/a> at <strong>The Butcher<\/strong> &amp; <strong>The Blade&#8217;<\/strong>s annual <strong><em>TID The Season<\/em><\/strong>, and defeating <strong>Chris Dickinson<\/strong> at <strong>Pizza Party Wrestling<\/strong> for her final match of the year. She was a frequent host on events she didn&#8217;t wrestle on, but still managed to work a few matches for the likes of GCW, <strong>Freelance Wrestling, Prime Time Pro Wrestling (PTPW)<\/strong>, and <strong>Black Wrestlers Matter<\/strong>. Her online presence was explosive, with her Creep Squad embroiled in a heated online battle against <strong>Suger Dunkerton<\/strong>&#8216;s Wholesome Gang, while becoming one of the matriarchs of the surging Black wrestling community throughout the year. In early 2021, she competed twice at\u00a0<em><strong>GCW Fight Forever<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>GCW&#8217;s 24-hour event, defeating <strong>Erica Leigh<\/strong> in a great match during the <em>Allie Kat&#8217;s Real Hot Girl Sh*t <\/em>block, while also reuniting Thick &amp; Juicy to face <strong>The REP<\/strong> at\u00a0<strong><em>For The Culture<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Black Wrestlers Matter: Faye Jackson vs. Devon Monroe w\/AEW&#039;s Sonny Kiss\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AQiemtTuh4o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Faye Jackson&#8217;s personality was a beacon of hope, joy, and perseverance in the U.S. indies, for both women and Black wrestling, and her wit and wisdom were a backbone for both during the pandemic era of pro wrestling.
