During a match in Mexico against <strong>Angel O Demonio<\/strong>, things took a turn for the worst. Angel, upset at some of the stiff chair shots from El Cuervo, took &#8220;justice&#8221; into his own hands with sickening returns &#8211; he grabbed a nearby cinder block and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2018\/11\/20\/puerto-rico-star-cuervo-taken-to-hospital-following-extreme-match-video\/\" target=\"_self\">smashed it on El Cuervo&#8217;s head<\/a>. El Cuervo de Puerto Rico had to have emergency surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain and doctors said it would take at least <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2018\/11\/27\/one-year-rcovery-for-el-cuervo-de-puerto-rico\/\" target=\"_self\">a full year for a full recovery<\/a>. But though he would return to health, his wrestling career was still in doubt. Until this time last year. On December 14, 2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/theovertimer.com\/2019\/12\/cuervo-de-puerto-rico-returns-one-year-after-cinder-block-incident\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">he made his return to the ring<\/a> for <strong>Championship\u00a0Wrestling\u00a0Association (CWA)\u00a0<\/strong>in Puerto Rico, where he won the CWA Heavyweight Championship. But almost as soon as he&#8217;d made his return, the Covid pandemic hit and he was once again shelved as independent wrestling in Puerto Rico shut down. El Cuervo would make his 2020 return to the ring last month, when he traveled to Texas to face <strong>Black Taurus<\/strong> at <strong>Loko Wrestling<\/strong>&#8216;s <em><strong>Loko Desmadre<\/strong><\/em> show on November 19.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"El Cuervo vs Black Taurus (Lucha Libre AAA) Loko Wrestling - Title Match Network\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E9r4LCOKQTg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The slow comeback of El Cuervo, from severe career (and life) threatening injuries, through the pandemic shutdown, to his return to the ring against a Mexican star like Black Taurus, has been nothing short of miraculous. But it gets better. On December 23, <strong>All Elite Wrestling (AEW)<\/strong> revealed the card for the December 29 edition of their YouTube show,\u00a0<em><strong>AEW DARK<\/strong><\/em><strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>it was announced that El Cuervo would be making his AEW debut in tag team action, teaming with Chilean indie wrestler <strong>Ariel Levy<\/strong> from <strong>Campeonato Nacional de Lucha Libre (CNL)<\/strong>, who is also an actor in his home country.
