Pro wrestling has not been exempt, as promotions had to shut down or run shows with little to no live audience. Although 2020 looked different for pro wrestling, there were still plenty of mark out moments. Let&#8217;s run down some top mark out moments in 2020.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/YJYKztD.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" alt=\"\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo \/ IMPACT Wrestling<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">IMPACT Wrestling Stars Return at Slammiversary<\/h3>\n<p>IMPACT Wrestling had an arguably strong year considering the world climate. One of the biggest events for the promotion, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2020\/07\/18\/three-new-champions-slammiversary\/\" target=\"_self\"><em>Slammiverary<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, took place on July 18th. The build-up to the show promised a night of surprises and returns. The event delivered with the return of the <strong>Motor City Machine Guns<\/strong>, the debut of <strong>Heath<\/strong>, the in-ring return of <strong>Rich Swann<\/strong>, and the return of <strong>Eric Young<\/strong> to IMPACT Wrestling!\u00a0 Just as the show went off the air, a vignette aired of the returning <strong>EC3<\/strong>. The return of many past IMPACT stars paved the way for the rest of the year. The surprise returns and debuts made a fun night full of mark out moments.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kenny Omega Appears on IMPACT, Promises HUGE Surprise for Dynamite! | IMPACT! Highlights Dec 8, 2020\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9WvX8t0RsSk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">IMPACT And AEW Strike Crossover<\/h3>\n<p>At the end of the <strong>AEW Winter is Coming<\/strong> event, <strong>Kenny<\/strong> <strong>Omega<\/strong> defeated <strong>Jon<\/strong> <strong>Moxley<\/strong> to become the AEW World Champion. After the match, Kenny Omega and <strong>Don<\/strong> <strong>Callis<\/strong> announced that Omega would appear on IMPACT Wrestling the following Tuesday night. Omega appeared on the next two episodes, setting up a match at <strong><em>Hard to Kill<\/em><\/strong> with Omega teaming up with the <strong>Good<\/strong> <strong>Brothers<\/strong> to take on the Motor City Machine Guns and Rich Swann. The two promotions teaming up may lead to some interesting dream matches. Hearing Don Callis announce that Kenny Omega would appear on IMPACT was unexpected. The unexpectedness of the announcement itself was a mark out moment, along with the potential dream matches and positive implications that may lead to many more mark out moments next year.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Where Were You When Sting Made his Shocking AEW Debut? | AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming, 12\/2\/20\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4kv3qPGtSZM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Sting Makes AEW Debut<\/h3>\n<p>AEW promised to give fans surprises in the final part of 2020. The promotion delivered during the Winter is Coming event on December 2nd. During a beatdown of <strong>Cody Rhodes<\/strong> and <strong>Darby<\/strong> <strong>Allin<\/strong> courtesy of <strong>Team Taz<\/strong>, the lights went out, and an entrance video began to roll. The video finished with the name <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2020\/12\/02\/sting-is-all-elite\/\" target=\"_self\">Sting<\/a> <\/strong>appearing on the video board. The Icon himself made his way towards the ring as Team Taz fled. The moment felt poetic as <strong>Tony<\/strong> <strong>Schiavone<\/strong> was on the call with his signature &#8220;It&#8217;s Sting!&#8221; catchphrase. Both men played a pivotal role in <strong>WCW<\/strong> which also aired on TNT in the &#8217;90s and early &#8217;00s. The nostalgia of both Sting and Schiavone on TNT was a mark out moment for many fans.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ember Moon shocks the NXT Universe with epic return: NXT TakeOver 31 (WWE Network Exclusive)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/i1QyPsmtoSU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Ember Moon and Toni Storm Return<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2020\/10\/04\/toni-storm-ember-moon-return-nxt-takeover-31\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Toni Storm<\/strong> and <strong>Ember Moon<\/strong><\/a> have both had sizable contributions to the NXT Women&#8217;s Division. Their absence on the brand was felt in the early part of 2020; that was until <strong><em>NXT Takeover 31<\/em><\/strong>. At the end of NXT Women&#8217;s Championship match between champion <strong>Io<\/strong> <strong>Shirai<\/strong> and challenger <strong>Candice<\/strong> <strong>LeRae<\/strong>,<strong> Toni Storm<\/strong> appeared on the video screen to announce that she was returning to NXT. This was not the only return for the night, however. NXT had been teasing the return of a wrestler for weeks. This wrestler road into the building on a motorcycle and would reveal herself to be<strong> Ember Moon<\/strong>! The return of both superstars was a mark out moment for NXT fans and added even more depth to the NXT women&#8217;s roster.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Unseen footage of Edge\u2019s Royal Rumble return on WWE Network\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RuWNWc-RhP8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0Edge Returns<\/h3>\n<p>On the April 11th, 2011 episode of <strong>Monday Night Raw<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2020\/01\/27\/report-edge-signs-three-year-contract-with-wwe\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Edge <\/strong><\/a>announced he had to medically retire from professional wrestling. The announcement sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world, as he had just wrestled two weeks prior at <em><strong>Wrestlemania 27<\/strong><\/em>. Prior to <strong><em>Wrestlemania 28<\/em><\/strong>, Edge was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by good friend and fellow wrestler <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwe.com\/superstars\/christian\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Christian<\/strong><\/a>. Fast forward to 2020 and the <strong><em>Royal Rumble<\/em><\/strong> when the buzzer rang for entrant 21. Fans were greeted by the familiar &#8220;You Think You Know Me&#8221; phrase followed by the Alter Bridge theme Metalingus. The crowd marked out at the return of Edge to the <em>Royal Rumble<\/em> and WWE. Although he did not win the match, he would go on to feud with Randy Orton leading to a match <strong><em>Wrestlemania 36<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>2020 was a tough year for everyone and the wrestling industry was not immune from 2020&#8217;s many challenges. Even though we watched wrestling with very little to no live audience, it didn&#8217;t stop promotions from giving fans mark out moments in 2020.
