The winners have been decided: Kento Miyahara and Yuma Aoyagi. The tournament showcased action between 10 teams. These included The Violent Giants, Team ECW known as Tajiri and Masato Tanaka, Enfant Terribles (Kuma Arashi and Shotaro Ashino) & JIN (Jake Lee and Koji Iwamoto.) Only two teams would go on for the opportunity to gain number one contendership for the AJPW World Tag Team Championship that The Violent Giants have.

The first team that went to the finals consisted of the JIN. This team dominated, defeating Purple Haze, Sai, and Yoshitatsu. They also bested Team BJW (Abdullah Kobayashi and Daisuke Sekimoto) and Enfant Terribles to qualify for the finals of the tournament. Keep in mind that this is the second Real World Tag League in Jake Lee’s career and the first for AJPW’s Junior Champion Koji Iwamoto.

Another team consisted of Kento Miyahara and Yuma Aoyagi. Many considered this team too broken early last year due to Aoyagi wanting to challenge Miyahara. They wouldn’t have the best of luck on the opening night. Eventually, they made a comeback against the likes of Team ECW, Sai and Yoshitatsu, Violent Giants and Purple Haze to qualify for the finals of the tournament. This would mark Aoyagi’s first time in the finals of an AJPW tournament in years.

【ニュース】青柳優馬が宮原健斗との仲直りタッグで世界最強タッグリーグを制覇し史上最年少の三冠ヘビー級王座戴冠を宣言！https://t.co/LKB0Bb91cg
【Yahoo】 https://t.co/I7KegEJra4#ajpw #全日本プロレス #宮原健斗 #青柳優馬 #プロレス #PROWRESTLING

— バトル・ニュース (@btln) December 8, 2020

The final match was heavily emotional and could be described as a throwback to the entirety of the Miyahara vs. Lee rivalry of 2019. However, the aforementioned final focused on establishing the other partners. Yuma Aoyagi went the distance in this match. Towards the end of the match, he picked up the victory for his team – not Kento Miyahara, the “Ace” of All Japan. It was one of those moments that excited the crowd. This was the first tournament victory for Aoyagi; meanwhile, this is the 2nd time Miyahara won the Real World Tag League.

Kento Miyahara and Yuma Aoyagi are the next contenders for the AJPW World Tag Team Championship. They will face off against the Violent Giants on the first night of the New Year’s War Tour. During this tour, Aoyagi showcased dedication to pursue the Triple Crown Championship. On the second night of the New Year’s War Tour, he will face Suwama in the main event; this marks the second time that Aoyagi has challenged for the belt. This is a big deal considering how the first major show of the year shapes up the new year for some promotions, most notably those in puroresu.

Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
