{"id":79757,"date":"2020-11-29T13:44:18","date_gmt":"2020-11-29T18:44:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2020\/11\/29\/jacob-fatu-is-the-next-big-thing\/"},"modified":"2021-04-08T20:50:52","modified_gmt":"2021-04-09T00:50:52","slug":"jacob-fatu-is-the-next-big-thing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2020\/11\/29\/jacob-fatu-is-the-next-big-thing\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacob Fatu is the Next Big Thing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past few decades, the <strong>Anoa&#8217;i Family<\/strong> has surged to the forefront of professional wrestling.\u00a0 After all, this is a family that has produced the likes of<strong> The Rock<\/strong>,<strong> Roman Reigns<\/strong>, <strong>The Usos<\/strong> (<strong>Jimmy<\/strong> and <strong>Jey<\/strong>), <strong>Umaga<\/strong> and <strong>Rikishi<\/strong>, just to name a few.\u00a0 It is also a family that somehow continues to keep giving professional wrestling certified stars.\u00a0 The aughter of Dwayne, <strong>Simone Johnson<\/strong>, is going to be a big star when she reaches the main roster of the <strong>WWE<\/strong> &#8211; it is a guarantee.\u00a0 <strong>Sefa Fatu<\/strong>, younger brother of the Usos and son of <strong>Rikishi<\/strong>, is another potential breakout star.\u00a0 Potentially the biggest talent of the next generation, however, is the Samoan Werewolf, <strong>Jacob Fatu<\/strong>, who recently returned to action with the MLW restart.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Establishing a Name Outside of the WWE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Jacob Fatu is the son of <strong>Sam Fatu<\/strong>, also known as the <strong>Tonga Kid<\/strong>.\u00a0 Just like his father &#8211; and pretty much all of the Anoa&#8217;i family &#8211; Jacob boasts a freakish combination of power, size, agility, and sheer talent.\u00a0 This has led to Jacob shining in promotions across the United States, most notably for <strong>Major League Wrestling<\/strong> (<strong>MLW<\/strong>), where he is the current MLW World Heavyweight Champion (512 days running, as of writing).\u00a0 In MLW, he is the top dog; a tremendous heel who possesses a monster aura rarely seen in wrestling nowadays.\u00a0 Jacob Fatu is the kind of wrestler you would fear to be trapped in a room with because he carries himself like a star &#8211; his <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2019\/07\/07\/jacob-fatu-mlw\/\" target=\"_self\">Samoan Werewolf<\/a> moniker is entirely justified.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not just a nickname; it is who he is and he demonstrates that time and time again.\u00a0 He is a brute of a man who boasts a combination of brawling, powerhouse, and even aerial maneuvers (such as his multiple moonsaults).\u00a0 Recently, Fatu did something unexpected and signed a new five-year contract with MLW, putting an end to speculation he was on his way to the <strong>McMahon<\/strong> Empire.\u00a0 Some have even been upset by this, struggling to comprehend why someone with the raw talent and potential of Fatu would limit himself to the &#8220;minor leagues&#8221;.\u00a0 At the core of it, this is a wise, mature decision by Fatu which will benefit him long term.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Jacob Fatu Does <em>Not<\/em> Need the WWE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Truth is, Jacob Fatu doesn&#8217;t need the WWE.\u00a0 Fatu is the King of MLW and, whereas MLW isn&#8217;t exactly a competitor for the WWE, he is building quite the name for himself whilst simultaneously building up MLW.\u00a0 He is the main heel and even has a top face of similar quality in <strong>Alexander Hammerstone<\/strong> to feud with.\u00a0 He has <strong>Contra Unit<\/strong>, the MLW Heavweight Championship, the big money, five-year contract necessary to continue building.<\/p>\n<p>If he were to go to WWE now, it might not be so straight forward.\u00a0 The WWE already has its top dog, Samoan badass of a heel in Roman Reigns.\u00a0 Whereas Fatu would quite easily fit into the Samoan family faction on SmackDown (with Jimmy and Jey) as the group&#8217;s muscle, Fatu could be leading a faction.\u00a0 Five years from now, when his MLW contract ends, chances are Roman Reigns has followed cousin Dwayne into Hollywood, freeing up a spot for the next big Samoan star in the WWE.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/MLW\/status\/1330360303188668416?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1330360303188668416%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cagesideseats.com%2F2020%2F11%2F23%2F21591124%2Fmlw-fusion-recap-review-ep-110-restart-nov-18-2020-jacob-fatu-davey-boy-smith-jr<\/p>\n<p>With the recent MLW Restart teasing the long-awaited feud between Hammerstone and Fatu, there is much to be excited about.\u00a0 This is a feud that will define the company&#8217;s success, as these are the two guys handpicked to carry MLW in their respective roles.\u00a0 Both men are certified stars, both in looks and inability. Therefore, this has the potential to be a breakout feud for both.\u00a0 Additionally, Fatu has already beaten some big, renowned names in professional wrestling &#8211; such as <strong>John Morrison<\/strong>.\u00a0 Therefore, it is clear that his peers also see the potential in Fatu and are more than happy to put him over when the opportunity presents itself.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Too Good To Keep Down<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"426\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-50078\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/07\/D-4LvfRXUAACGZm-e1562547712385.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Jacob Fatu is the next big thing in professional wrestling and it doesn&#8217;t matter whether he breaks out this year or in five years, when his MLW contract ends.\u00a0 Fact of the matter is, a guy of Fatu&#8217;s calibre is destined to succeed.\u00a0 It is extremely rare for a wrestler to be the <em>complete<\/em> package.\u00a0 The look, the physique, the ability, the promos, and even his general personality; it all makes for one mean Samoan destined to succeed, whether that be in MLW, the WWE, or anywhere else.\u00a0 More championships will come over the next five years and the Samoan Werewolf will continue building his name so that, when he does move on from MLW, his next promotion knows exactly how hot of a commodity they have.\u00a0 For his opponents&#8217; sake, it&#8217;s best to hope he doesn&#8217;t catch a full moon.<\/p>\n<p><em>Stay tuned to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Last Word on Pro Wrestling<\/a> for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
