{"id":78900,"date":"2020-11-14T10:00:27","date_gmt":"2020-11-14T15:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/?p=78900"},"modified":"2020-11-14T05:49:19","modified_gmt":"2020-11-14T10:49:19","slug":"preview-best-of-the-super-jr-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2020\/11\/14\/preview-best-of-the-super-jr-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Preview: NJPW &#8211; Best Of The Super Jr. 27 (BOSJ 2020)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To close out the year for NJPW we will see them run Best Of The Super Jr. 27 alongside World Tag League.\u00a0 With just one block the best Junior Heavyweights in NJPW will do battle in one of the years most anticipated tournaments.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s preview the actions for Best Of The Super Jr. 27.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Favorites<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-39781\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2019\/03\/Hiromu-696x391-e1551680586273.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Former Junior Heavyweight Champion\u00a0<strong>Hiromu Takahashi\u00a0<\/strong>enters as one of the obvious favorites to win the tournament.\u00a0 A tournament win would set him up for a Wrestle Kingdom clash with\u00a0<strong>Taiji Ishimori<\/strong>, the man who beat him for the title.\u00a0 Another heavy favorite is\u00a0<strong>Sho<\/strong>.\u00a0 Without his tag team partner\u00a0<strong>Yoh\u00a0<\/strong>we have seen Sho step up as a singles performer.\u00a0 Fans have been anticipating a Sho singles run in the Junior Heavyweight division for some time and now would be as good a time as any to give him the win to set up a big Wrestle Kingdom match for him.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Outside Chance<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"352\" height=\"528\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11575\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2017\/12\/El_Desperado_NJPW.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2017\/12\/El_Desperado_NJPW.png 352w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2017\/12\/El_Desperado_NJPW-200x300.png 200w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2017\/12\/El_Desperado_NJPW-280x420.png 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 352px) 100vw, 352px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Current champion Taiji Ishimori is unlikely to win the tournament designed to crown a new challenger for his championships but the option is always there.\u00a0 It would allow NJPW to set up two title matches for Ishimori, one for each day of WK actin.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>El Desperado\u00a0<\/strong>is another performer who we could see come away with the win, Desperado has yet to claim junior heavyweight gold in NJPW but he is a beloved and talented member of the roster who could have a fresh run with the title. <strong>Robbie Eagles\u00a0<\/strong>is a dark horse to win the tournament depending on his direction.\u00a0 Last we saw Eagles he was a member of CHAOS but with his ties to\u00a0<strong>Will Ospreay\u00a0<\/strong>we could see him join The Empire as it&#8217;s leading junior heavyweight.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Ryusuke Taguchi\u00a0<\/strong>could always be given one last hurrah in Best Of The Super Jr. but it&#8217;s unlikely.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>No Chance In Hell<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-71882\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/07\/Master-Wato.jpg\" alt=\"Master Wato\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/07\/Master-Wato.jpg 600w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/07\/Master-Wato-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The tournament has quite a bit of fodder in the block with names like\u00a0<strong>Master Wato, Yuya Uemura, BUSHI, <\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>DOUKI\u00a0<\/strong>all having a very slim chance of winning the tournament.\u00a0 None of the four are ever pushed considerably and while Wato had some buzz when he returned he fizzled out after a loss to\u00a0<strong>Yoshinobu Kanemaru<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Stay tuned to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/\" target=\"_self\">Last Word on Pro Wrestling<\/a>\u00a0for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
