{"id":78199,"date":"2020-10-29T12:46:49","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T16:46:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/?p=78199"},"modified":"2020-10-29T12:46:49","modified_gmt":"2020-10-29T16:46:49","slug":"omega-and-page-a-feud-for-the-present","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2020\/10\/29\/omega-and-page-a-feud-for-the-present\/","title":{"rendered":"Omega and Page: A Feud For the Present"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Going back to the beginning of September 2020, <strong>Kenny Omega<\/strong> and <strong>Adam Page<\/strong> were the <strong>AEW<\/strong> World Tag Team Champions.\u00a0 They were dominant champions; carrying the titles around their waists from their victory over <strong>SoCal Uncensored<\/strong> aboard <strong>Chris Jericho<\/strong>&#8216;s <em><strong>Rock &#8216;n&#8217; Wrestling Rager<\/strong><\/em> on January 21st up until their defeat to <strong>FTR<\/strong> at <em><strong>All Out <\/strong><\/em>on September 5th.\u00a0 A 228 day title reign in a company possessing such a stellar tag team division is no easy feat.\u00a0 Despite their dominance, Omega and Page had looked shaky for quite some time.\u00a0 It was no surprise, then, that Kenny would turn his back on Page.\u00a0 At AEW&#8217;s <em><strong>Full Gear 2020<\/strong><\/em> (November 7), the two will square off to determine the next challenger for <strong>Jon Moxley<\/strong>&#8216;s AEW World Championship.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Kenny Omega and the Return to Cleaning<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/AEW\/status\/1302437855785082882?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1302437855785082882%7Ctwgr%5Eshare_3&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportskeeda.com%2Faew%2Fnews-ftr-win-tag-team-titles-aew-all-out-a-clean-start-kenny-omega<\/p>\n<p>Typically, a high-profile tag team in pro wrestling ends with a nasty fall-out.\u00a0 For months, Omega and Page teased just that; with Page at one point making sure his <strong>The Elite<\/strong> comrades, <strong>The Young Bucks<\/strong>, were eliminated from a fatal four way tag team match.\u00a0 When Page wanted to drink beer with his buddies in FTR, Omega tutted and tapped his foot &#8211; disappointed that his partner would do such a thing with a proven enemy.\u00a0 When the break up finally came, Omega grabbed a ringside table.\u00a0 Finally, at last, the Omega\/Page feud &#8211; teased for months &#8211; was about to come to fruition.\u00a0 Omega was finally going to bash Page&#8217;s face in and get back to Cleaning, as fans demanded.\u00a0 Instead, something else happened; Kenny put the table down, ignored Page&#8217;s embrace and walked away.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kenny Omega&#039;s Stunning New Entrance - Who Moved on in the Tournament   AEW Dynamite, 10\/21\/20\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U07Qds43mpI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>He would return on October 21, more than a month later.\u00a0 A new entrance; a new attitude but the same old Cleaner\/Best Bout Machine who made Kenny Omega a household name in <strong>New Japan Pro Wrestling<\/strong>.\u00a0 He defeated <strong>Sonny Kiss<\/strong> in a meager 26 seconds and sat in the ring with a smug expression which read &#8220;is that it?&#8221; Then on this week&#8217;s episode of AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega was victorious once more; in a far more competitive bout against <strong>Pentagon Jr<\/strong>.\u00a0 A match that lasted over 17 minutes, it was a contest which really allowed Kenny (as well as the brilliant Pentagon Jr) to showcase his arsenal &#8211; a warning to his opponent in the final that The Cleaner is back.\u00a0 Well, his opponent is a man who knows Omega as good as anybody.\u00a0 Hangman Page.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Adam Page: The Worthy Opponent<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Did Wardlow or Hangman Move Into the Finals of the Tournament? |  AEW Dynamite, 10\/28\/20\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D9vRytGLroo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Hangman Page is one of AEW&#8217;s big potential future stars.\u00a0 Granted, Page is already a star for the present; having wrestled all over the world and having received a giant boost in popularity during his time in The Elite.\u00a0 He is one of the best workers in the world; boasting an arsenal worthy of comparison to the most impressive stars in AEW.\u00a0 In addition, of course, he is one-half of the longest-reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions in the promotion&#8217;s short history (with Omega).\u00a0 However, despite the acclaim, Page is just 29 years old &#8211; in wrestling terms, this is pretty young.\u00a0 He has yet to capture a major singles title (the only singles title to his name thus far is the <strong>CWF Mid-Atlantic<\/strong> Heavyweight Championship).\u00a0 Therefore, going into his match with Omega at <em>Full Gear 2020<\/em>, it is clear who the veteran and who the young, upstart is.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Hangman is Out of the Elite | AEW Dynamite, 8\/27\/20\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/i8eGgDAH0rI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kenny Omega is one of the most decorated stars in the world today.\u00a0 He has won titles in <strong>AAA<\/strong> (and is the current AAA Mega Champion); he has won championships in <strong>All Japan Pro Wrestling<\/strong>.\u00a0 Titles in <strong>PWG<\/strong>; titles in <strong>DDT<\/strong> and not to mention the crown jewel, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in <strong>New Japan Pro Wrestling<\/strong>.\u00a0 Then there are the awards he has won, such as topping the <em><strong>PWI 500<\/strong><\/em> in 2018.\u00a0 Kenny Omega\u00a0 is, without a doubt, a certified legend within pro wrestling (and if you watched AEW Dynamite this week, you&#8217;ll know that he knows we think this). Therefore, Hangman is the clear underdog heading into a match that will be hotly contested and, potentially, personal.\u00a0 Though their break-up wasn&#8217;t the stab-in-the-back betrayal we expected, there must still be bad blood between the former tag team partners.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A Potentially Significant AEW Rivalry<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"HANGMAN &amp; OMEGA RETAIN THEIR AEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS | AEW DYNAMITE 2\/12\/20, AUSTIN\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2-WCL8O--QE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>All Elite Wrestling<\/strong> is still a <em>very<\/em> young promotion.\u00a0 Despite having the benefit of <strong>Tony Khan<\/strong>&#8216;s money; a mega TV deal with <em><strong>TNT<\/strong> <\/em>and an already boisterous fan-base, it is a fact that cannot be ignored: AEW needs significant feuds.\u00a0 They are someway&#8217;s to achieving this, having already produced feuds such as the <strong>Inner Circle<\/strong> versus The Elite; Cody versus <strong>Lance Archer<\/strong> and Jon Moxley versus <strong>Brian Cage<\/strong>.\u00a0 However, what they really need is a truly lengthy, personal rivalry that years from now people look back to with fondness.\u00a0 Everything is set up for this feud to be just that.\u00a0 With the tag team history; the manner of their breakup and their potentially violent fallout coming out of their upcoming match (it should not be a &#8220;one and done&#8221; deal).\u00a0 Omega already has the star power; let him use it to bring Page up to that level and create some magic for the ages.\u00a0 The feud for the present.<\/p>\n<p><em>Stay tuned to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/\" target=\"_self\">Last Word on Pro Wrestling<\/a> for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
