The year 2020 has been a terrible one for numerous reasons, but for many indie wrestlers, its become a year of opportunity. All Elite Wrestling, IMPACT Wrestling<\/strong>, and even the WWE<\/a> have utilized a lot more indie talent on their programming as companies have fought to work through reduced rosters from the COVID-19 pandemic. And now Twitter indie star Nasty Leroy<\/strong> has been announced as making his Game Changer Wrestling (GCW)<\/strong> debut at the July 4 event, GCW Backyard Wrestling 2<\/strong><\/em>. The soft-spoken indie wrestler from the Atlanta, Georgia area – where he trains with AEW’s QT Marshall<\/strong> at the Nightmare Factory<\/strong><\/a> – became somewhat of a viral hit earlier this year as a frequent guest on Joey Janela<\/strong>‘s #JanelaZone segments on Instagram<\/a>. The announcement of Leroy’s GCW debut was revealed live to him on IG on Sunday night, delivered by Janela himself in an emotional segment.<\/p>\n

Nasty Leroy had a brief touch of big viral notoriety back in early May when he appeared in the audience for AEW<\/a> on May 6, 2020, edition of AEW Dynamite<\/strong><\/em> during Janela’s match against Cody Rhodes<\/strong>. The soft-spoken wrestler with a dirty mouth is set for his biggest platform match to date with GCW, who launched the inaugural\u00a0GCW <\/strong><\/em>Backyard Wrestling<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>special last July 4, 2019, that saw GCW regulars and rising indie stars compete in an actual backyard show, some under new characters. That event was the show that turned Alex Zayne<\/strong> into an overnight indie sensation. Janela is no stranger to bringing in the lovable misfits of the viral Twitterverse of wrestling, as he brought in Social Media daredevil Super Humman<\/strong> for his highest-profile appearance in GCW<\/a> last fall, and originally had Lord Adrean & Tahir2x<\/strong>, better known as “The Walmart Dudes” for their viral video of wrestling in Walmart, signed for this year’s Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4<\/strong><\/em><\/a> over WrestleMania Week in April of 2020 before the COVID pandemic canceled the week’s festivities.<\/p>\n
