Just days after being Becky Lynch<\/strong> was announced as joining the Showtime show Billions<\/strong><\/em> <\/a>for its fifth season premiere, Kris Tapley<\/strong> from Netflix’s The Call Sheet<\/strong> dropped a surprise on his Twitter on Saturday afternoon that “The Man” would also be appearing in an upcoming Marvel movie.<\/p>\n

While Tapley is being mum on which project Lynch will be making an appearance in, there’s certainly lots of upcoming productions, some already filmed, that could be the film in which the reigning Raw Women’s Champion could appear. It could be in the postponed\u00a0Black Widow<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>film, now set for a November 2020 release, or Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>which began filming this past February until being shut down in March over COVID-19 concerns. It’s still scheduled for release on May 7, 2021. There are also two other Marvel Cinematic Universe films in pre-production, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>and\u00a0Thor: Love & Thunder,<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/em>that could see Becky Lynch popping up in when they’re released in 2022. The report from Kris Tapley doesn’t specify if it’s a Marvel movie from the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe or one of the other Marvel films not under production from Disney, such as the upcoming releases, Venom<\/em><\/strong>: Let There Be Carnage<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>or Morbius\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>in Sony’s Spiderverse. Based on appearances only, many comic book fans are suggesting it could be the character Angela<\/strong>, the lost sister of Thor<\/strong> and Loki<\/strong> who originally debuted in\u00a0Image Comics’<\/strong> Spawn<\/strong><\/em>, before being sold to Marvel Comics in 2013. If these fan theories prove true,\u00a0Thor: Love & Thunder\u00a0<\/em>could be the movie in question.<\/p>\n

Regardless of which Marvel movie Becky Lynch ultimately ends up appearing in, it marks the next in a long list of pro wrestlers who have been conscripted into the world of superheroes movies and television, beginning with Sgt. Slaughter<\/strong> joining Marvel’s GI Joe<\/strong><\/em> animated series and movie in the 1980s. In 2007, Kane<\/strong> appeared in an episode of DC Comics’ Smallville<\/strong><\/em> as Titan<\/strong>, while the DC Arrowverse has seen Edge<\/strong> appear in The Flash<\/strong> <\/em>as Atom Smasher<\/strong> and AEW’s Cody Rhodes<\/strong> appears in Arrow<\/strong><\/em> as Derek Sampson<\/strong>.\u00a0Kevin Nash\u00a0<\/strong>has appeared in two comic book properties, first as Shredder<\/strong> in 1991’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>then as\u00a0The Russian\u00a0<\/strong>in Thomas Jane<\/strong>‘s 2004 version of\u00a0The Punisher.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Former WCW Superstar Tyler Mane<\/strong> appeared as Sabretooth<\/strong> in 2000’s X-Men<\/strong><\/em> and even Triple H<\/strong> joined in on the action, starring as Jarko Grimwood\u00a0<\/strong>in\u00a0Blade: Trinity<\/strong><\/em> in 2004. In 2002, “Macho Man” Randy Savage<\/strong> portrayed cage fighter Bone Saw McGraw<\/strong> in Tobey Maguire<\/strong>‘s first outing in Spider-Man<\/strong><\/em>, while former WCCW and WCW wrestler Jeep Swenson<\/strong> portrayed Bane<\/strong> in 1997’s Batman and Robin<\/strong><\/em>. But the biggest success story breaking into comic book films would have to be Dave Bautista<\/strong>, starring as Drax the Destroyer<\/strong> in both\u00a0Guardians of the Galaxy\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>films (2014 and 2017), as well as Avengers: Infinity War<\/strong><\/em> (2018) and Avengers: Endgame\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(2019).<\/p>\n

If it indeed ends up being one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies upcoming, Becky Lynch will be the second of the Four Horsewomen to find work with Disney in one of their massive intellectual properties – Sasha Banks<\/strong> has reportedly joined the Star Wars Universe, with a role in the second season of The Mandalorian<\/strong><\/em><\/a> on Disney+.<\/p>\n
