{"id":67210,"date":"2020-04-22T12:34:29","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T16:34:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/?p=67210"},"modified":"2020-04-22T12:34:29","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T16:34:29","slug":"preview-aew-dynamite-4-22-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2020\/04\/22\/preview-aew-dynamite-4-22-20\/","title":{"rendered":"Preview: AEW Dynamite (4\/22\/20)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>All Elite Wrestling<\/strong>&#8216;s weekly broadcasting returns with another episode of <strong>AEW Dynamite<\/strong>.\u00a0 Though ratings are down across the board for professional wrestling programming right now, it continues to entertain.\u00a0 It continues to provide a worthy distraction away from the COVID-19 epidemic news which dominates television currently.\u00a0 Last week&#8217;s show featured a wild, thirty minute brawl between<strong> Jake Hager<\/strong> and <strong>Jon Moxley<\/strong>.\u00a0 This week has <strong>Kenny Omega<\/strong> returning to singles action, a <strong>Brodie Lee<\/strong> match and the continuation of the TNT Championship Tournament.\u00a0 Without further ado, let&#8217;s jump right back in!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Wardlow In Action<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67211\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/04\/Wardlow-In-Action-e1587420456778.jpg\" alt=\"AEW Dynamite\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wardlow<\/strong> returns to the AEW ring, two-weeks removed from his <strong>AEW Dark<\/strong> victory over <strong>Ryan Pyles<\/strong>.\u00a0 A true, &#8220;big hoss&#8221; wrestler, Wardlow has the potential to establish himself on the AEW roster and it is almost a certainty he will grab a victory here.\u00a0 All Elite Wrestling have used the lockdown to build some of their lesser known talent and that should continue here.\u00a0 Can he get some momentum and build a winning-run? Stay tuned.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Mr. Brodie Lee In Action<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67212\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/04\/Brodie-Lee-In-Action-e1587420501422.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\"><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Exalted One&#8221;, <strong>Mr. Brodie Lee<\/strong> returns to action tonight.\u00a0 The man formerly known as <strong>Luke Harper<\/strong> has dominated in his two AEW bouts so far.\u00a0 Both matches &#8211; against <strong>Lee Johnson<\/strong> and <strong>QT Marshall<\/strong> &#8211; ended in victory under three-minutes.\u00a0 There is a clear sense of direction for Brodie Lee&#8217;s new character.\u00a0 With the Dark Order cultishly backing him to the hilt, Mr. Brodie Lee can be unstoppable.\u00a0 Much like Wardlow, expect a quick victory here.\u00a0 It is far too soon for Lee to be losing.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Kenny Omega In Action<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67213\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/04\/Kenny-Omega-In-Action-e1587420598556.jpg\" alt=\"AEW Dynamite\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The man widely considered to be the &#8220;best in the world&#8221; returns to action.\u00a0 Nope, not<strong> CM Punk<\/strong>.\u00a0 AEW&#8217;s EVP, <strong>Kenny Omega<\/strong>, returns to AEW Dynamite.\u00a0 Despite being one-half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions with <strong>Adam Page<\/strong>, Omega will instead be focusing on singles action.\u00a0 We do not know who will be facing Omega, but as always, it is sure to be a fun match.\u00a0 Will the AAA Mega Championship be on the line? Quite possibly.\u00a0 Kenny has defended that championship a lot recently.\u00a0 Title defense or not, any Omega match is must-see.\u00a0 His last match was a tag team defeat (with <strong>Michael Nakazawa<\/strong>) against<strong> Best Friends<\/strong> (<strong>Chuck Taylor<\/strong> and <strong>Trent<\/strong>).\u00a0 He will be looking to return to winning ways.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Orange Cassidy vs Jimmy Havoc<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67214\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/04\/Orange-Cassidy-vs-Jimmy-Havoc-e1587420699269.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\"><\/p>\n<p>In what could prove to be an interesting match, <strong>Orange Cassidy<\/strong> squares off with <strong>Jimmy Havoc<\/strong>.\u00a0 Cassidy&#8217;s last victory in AEW actually came way back on October 30th.\u00a0 In that match, Cassidy teamed with Best Friends to defeat <strong>Alex Reynolds<\/strong>, <strong>John Silver<\/strong> and QT Marshall in a short match.\u00a0 Despite the lack of victories under his belt, the &#8220;Freshly Squeezed&#8221; Orange remains one of the most over guys on the roster.\u00a0 Meanwhile, Havoc has been in good form &#8211; losing just two of his last six matches in AEW.\u00a0 The most recent defeat came against <strong>Cody<\/strong>, on the March 23rd edition of Dynamite.\u00a0 Who wins this match is anyone&#8217;s guess, but with these two competitors, it should be highly entertaining.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>TNT Championship Tournament: Darby Allin vs Sammy Guevara<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67338\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67338\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67338\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/04\/Darby-Allin-vs-Sammy-Guevara.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/04\/Darby-Allin-vs-Sammy-Guevara.jpg 600w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/04\/Darby-Allin-vs-Sammy-Guevara-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-67338\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: AEW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Though perhaps not the AEW Dynamite main event this time, the last match to be announced today is this match.\u00a0 <strong>Sammy Guevara<\/strong> wants again comes face-to-face with <strong>Darby Allin<\/strong>.\u00a0 Two of the hottest young stars in pro-wrestling today, this is sure to be another stellar match.\u00a0 Both men have been killing it as of late; both having drawn comparisons to <strong>Eddie Guerrero<\/strong> and <strong>Jeff Hardy<\/strong>, respectively.\u00a0 However, there is no doubt that these two young stars are their own men forging their own path.\u00a0 Who wins this time around? Whereas Darby has had the upper-hand in previous encounters, he might not be so lucky this time.\u00a0 Either way, this match will be helped by <strong>Chris Jericho<\/strong>&#8216;s<em> hilarious<\/em> fawning over Guevara on commentary.\u00a0 This is going to be good.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>TNT Championship Tournament: Dustin Rhodes vs Kip Sabian<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67215\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/04\/Kip-Sabian-vs-Dustin-Rhodes-e1587420743830.jpg\" alt=\"AEW Dynamite\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The billed main event of the evening sees<strong> Kip Sabian<\/strong> square off with <strong>Dustin Rhodes<\/strong>.\u00a0 This is the third of four quarter final matches in the TNT Championship Tournament.\u00a0 So far, Cody and <strong>Lance Archer<\/strong> have advanced to the semi-finals, beating <strong>Shawn Spears<\/strong> and <strong>Colt Cabana<\/strong> respectively.\u00a0 Kip Sabian is on a two match winning run, having recently beaten <strong>Tony Donati<\/strong> and Chuck Taylor.\u00a0 Meanwhile, Rhodes is on a three minute winning run &#8211; his last defeat coming at the hands of Jake Hager back in February.\u00a0 This match sees the ultimate battle of youth vs experience.\u00a0 At 51 years of age, Dustin is almost twice the age of 27 year old Sabian.\u00a0 However, for Dustin, age is merely a number; he has been a standout performer on Dynamite since its inception.\u00a0 To add extra drama to the bout, Dustin has promised to retire if he &#8220;can&#8217;t beat that son of a b***h.&#8221;\u00a0 Can Sabian pull off one of the biggest wins of his career? Will Dustin Rhodes retire?
