Brooks had been battling cancer in recent times, entering hospice on Friday, but he has now passed away. But it wasn&#8217;t until he joined <strong>The Sheik<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Big Time Wrestling<\/strong> in Detroit (which would become NWA Detroit) in 1970 that his star began to shine. Initially, he found his success in the tag team ranks and, paired with <strong>Ben Justice<\/strong>, became 3x NWA World Tag Team Champions. He would earn his fourth tag titles alongside <strong>Abdullah the Butcher<\/strong>. He would also work with <strong>Fritz Von Erich<\/strong>&#8216;s<strong> Big Time Wrestling<\/strong> (later renamed World Class Championship Wrestling).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dick Murdoch &amp; &#039;Killer&#039; Tim Brooks vs Jose &#039;Supersoc&#039; Lothario &amp; Alberto Madril (March 31, 1978)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H2Ee1CRWzMc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Brooks became a journeyman amongst the NWA territories in the mid to late 1970s, working with the likes of <strong>Mid South<\/strong>, Toronto&#8217;s <strong>Maple Leaf Wrestling<\/strong>, Calgary&#8217;s <strong>Stampede Wrestling<\/strong>, and <strong>Georgia Championship Wrestling<\/strong>. In 1978, he began working with <strong>Don Owens<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>Pacific Northwest Wrestling<\/strong>, where he was paired with one of the most exciting rising stars in <strong>Rowdy Roddy Piper<\/strong>. Alongside Piper, he won the NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team titles.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fVK_9J6mECA<\/p>\n<p>He would make his Japanese debut in 1977, working with <strong>All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW)<\/strong>, where he would work off and on into the 1980s. In 1978, he also began working with <strong>Joe Blanchard<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Southwest Wrestling<\/strong> in San Antonio, where he became a 2x Southwest Heavyweight Champion. In 1983, Brooks won the NWA National Heavyweight Championship and sold it to <strong>Larry Zybszko<\/strong>, in an angle similar to 1988&#8217;s story where <strong>Andre the Giant<\/strong> sold the WWF World title to <strong>&#8220;Million Dollar Man&#8221; Ted DiBiase<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-63774\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprowrestling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/02\/DvH2Cl1XgAApqnZ-e1582912295232.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"403\" height=\"500\"><\/p>\n<p>By 1986, Tim Brooks had returned to WCCW, where he worked until the company&#8217;s last days in 1989, capturing the WCCW Television title. He was a frequent tag partner of <strong>Bruiser Brody<\/strong>, even competing in Montreal as Bruiser&#8217;s kayfabe brother, <strong>Buster Brody<\/strong>.
