As a professional wrestler for over 30 years, he thrilled fans around the world, wrestling in 21 different countries across 5 continents.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Pampero Firpo (@PFirpo1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PFirpo1\/status\/1215297688314400768?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">January 9, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The Argentinian wrestling star trained to become a pro wrestler in the early 1950s, debuting in 1953. His rough shot style made the wildman an early pioneer of hardcore wrestling, and he started out early as <strong>Ivan The Terrible<\/strong>. By the early 1960s, he had adopted his more famous persona, Pampero Firpo, a name given to him by boxing star <strong>Jack Dempsey.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Antonino Rocca &amp; Ed. Firpo\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kGVJNNRW5aI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A consummate journeyman, Firpo became more of an attraction than a regular worker for one territory, much like other attractions of the time, like <strong>Gorgeous George, Andre the Giant<\/strong> and <strong>Bruiser Brody<\/strong>. He was a regular rotating character with everyone from <strong>Southside Sports\/Big Time Wrestling<\/strong> in Texas (prior to its rebranding as World Class Championship Wrestling), <strong>Big Time Wrestling\/NWA Detroit, Mid South, World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF), Pacific Northwest Wrestling<\/strong> in Portland, <strong>Mid-Atlantic, American Wrestling Association (AWA)<\/strong>, and much more.
